We just try to do as much of what we've always wanted to do at every available opportunity. And view work and finances as a means to an end.
You really never know when your time is up, and I don't think anyone ever gets to their deathbed and says "I wish I had spent more time in the office"....
In the last few weeks I've had 4 hours of instruction on the B737, taken Mrs McT to a national ballet in a stunning location, stayed at a legendary hotel my great-grandfather went to, and organised a get-together of family and friends from three countries for a special occasion. Oh..... And met a nice person.
I now have a credit card bill the size of a small banana republic's annual deficit, but hey-ho, that can be sorted.
The experiences were truly remarkable however, and I'd feel pretty cheated if I died tomorrow and had a bit more money in the bank instead of having those memories.....
Nice in theory.
For some of us practicality of doing everything we want to Is hard and reality of knowing money in the bank can mean securing tomorrow. And that's from a relatively comfortable position.
Anyway, still feeling good, bit tired, but done pretty ful lith day in garden.
And here is something.
I am RAVENOUS. I could eat everything and anything. I cannot, but I guess that means things are working which is great. It also means I'm about to get really uncomfortable I think.
I wonder if it means I might be able to lose so e weight? If it does I am about to get VERY excited.0 -
Funnily enough, I'm ravenous. Trying to decide what kinda omlette to make.:)
Have measured the posters. I have the following which need framing:
Circular poster - 27.5 inches diameter
Lion - 16.75 inches x 23.5 inches
Lost Horizons - 50.5 inches x 26.5 inches
Tour - 40 inches x 60 inches
Plus the map - 841mm x 1189mm
I believe the Lion pic can be got a frame at The Range. I fear the others are going to be costly - The Range & Ikea seem to have their biggest frames as 70cm x 100cm (27.5 inches x 39.5 inches).
This might get a bit pricey...:(It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

I don't have a bucket list, but I've been very limited as to what I could do (and enjoy) alone ... and with few funds.
For me, the main part of a bucket list would include the phrase ".... with X and not alone" in it.
Most things done, alone, are soulless and depressing events - most activities heighten ones "aloneness" and I think one of the best things about doing stuff is doing it with somebody else so that you can recall having done it at random future points.
Alone-ness pretty much sucks.
And that's before you start then considering that with one, small, income, most things are out of one's financial reach anyway.
I think it was unexpected.
I think my bucket list would look much like yours, PN.
I tend to have enough money to do what I want because a) I like saving and b) because I like saving the things I'm in the habit of the things I want to do being cost-effective. I'm sure there are plenty of things I'd like to do that are very expensive, but I don't feel like I'm missing out in that way.
On the way back home I usually walk through a park. Today there was an event on in said park. Not a huge amount to see (not the most exciting event ever), but the sun is shining and there were loads of people milling around.
Meh. In many ways it's a good job I don't have someone to distract me. I've made the most of today's rainlessness to mow the lawn (back done, just on my way out to the front of the house now).0 -

Cheesy cheese cheese .... and cheese topped. Add some cheese after cooking to.lemonjelly wrote: »Funnily enough, I'm ravenous. Trying to decide what kinda omlette to make.:)0 -
I can't just randomly mow the lawn - I have to randomly mow the lawn when the tip's open so I can take the cuttings there. Wouldn't want to have them lurking around inside or outside or in the car boot ... for a few days until I remembered/the tip was open.I've made the most of today's rainlessness to mow the lawn
With a shed I'd have been happy enough to lob the bucket of cuttings in there for a day or two .... but without a shed I wouldn't want them sitting outside to get wet/slugs/whatever .... or inside here (not quite sure what might be lurking in there that got scooped up by the mower that might crawl out).
I did actually buy a big bucket for the clippings to go into - one of those black/plastic/trug-with-handle-holes things ... £2.95.0 -
Were having a risotto, with my stomach confidence, its going to be FULL of veg. Mainly asparagus, orange, and fennel. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
( I know I am feeling better because il have a pudd in the freezer for the others for tomorrow now.....raspberry ripple semifredo, not something one pot, and am also thinking about a tart for tonight rather than losing some fresh fruit t people. Problem with that is it would leave me with little fresh fruit for me,

YOUR house = freedom to make decisions and do things.....
