The green bin gets collected on Tuesday. That, and the fact I have vistors next weekend and from tomorrow it might rain every day before then...

I've never explained this here .... but it's part of my oddness.....

I don't have bins. I take everything to the tip myself.... or recycling.

There's a set of bins, that I don't know when they're collected etc, but they're the LL's/next doors.... and I should have been using them from the start. But .... I have serious privacy issues and didn't want the LL to be seeing/judging/poking around with what I put in the bin .... then the new people came and they're a family of 2+baby+toddler and I didn't want to get into awkwardness with sharing a bin with somebody who would be generating 20x the rubbish (and god knows what) that I do.... and having to "worry" about being perceived/not as "doing my fair share" of dragging it to/from the kerbside. I also didn't want to open a bin that somebody else might be making mucky, or putting nappies into ....

ASD and sharing = very awkward.... best avoided.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I can't just randomly mow the lawn - I have to randomly mow the lawn when the tip's open so I can take the cuttings there. Wouldn't want to have them lurking around inside or outside or in the car boot ... for a few days until I remembered/the tip was open.

With a shed I'd have been happy enough to lob the bucket of cuttings in there for a day or two .... but without a shed I wouldn't want them sitting outside to get wet/slugs/whatever .... or inside here (not quite sure what might be lurking in there that got scooped up by the mower that might crawl out).

I did actually buy a big bucket for the clippings to go into - one of those black/plastic/trug-with-handle-holes things ... £2.95.

Pn, personally I wouldn't put clippings in a shed. They can get VERY hot in summer very quickly, clippings. I'd leave them outside happily.

I don't have a bucket list, but I've been very limited as to what I could do (and enjoy) alone ... and with few funds.

    ......

And that's before you start then considering that with one, small, income, most things are out of one's financial reach anyway.

If this is a bucket list and you had a terminal prognosis, you could go straight to the bank and borrow massively and then raid Wonga and the like. Confident that by the time it all caught up with you, you would be looking down from the sky laughing.

Didn't someone do this, then sue the doctor because his prognosis turned out not to be as terminal as first thought?

The trouble with leaving them outside is if it rains then the trug would end up with 2-6" of water ..... and it'd be unpleasant to then have to drag it through the entire house to get it through the front door and into the car. It'd make for an unpleasant experience. Although, saying that, if I were going to leave it outside I could leave it on the front doorstep I guess.... but, still, if it rains, it'd be unpleasant to get into the car, then get out of the car and up the steps at the tip and to tip it out etc.

Although, thinking that through a bit more, I guess I could put it inside a black sack on the front step in case it rained.....

Whenever I see people doing their bucket lists the first thing that always occurs to me is "where on earth does all that money come from?"

There was a bloke in 2007 who was given a terminal illness - and he spent all his money and gave away all his stuff .... then they discovered it was an error. It was in the local paper.... no idea what happened next though.

Edit: Found him, lots of news stories on it, here's one: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-453095/Patient-given-wrong-diagnosis-year-live-faces-bankruptcy.html
"Facing bankruptcy: "Mr Brandrick decided his priority was to spend time with his partner of 16 years, Sally Laskey, which is why he gave up work, sold his car and stopped paying the mortgage.

Even his winter clothing was given to charity shops as he did not expect to need it again, and the couple went for trips around Cornwall and to visit relatives.

"It felt like I was on Death Row," he said.

"I got rid of everything, all the bric-a-brac around the house, the lot. I just kept my burial outfit - a black suit, white shirt and red tie.

"We loved going to restaurants. We paid £80 for meals, things Sally and I were unable to afford normally."

In all, they spent thousands of pounds treating themselves as well as friends and relatives.

Finally a scan this year revealed the "tumour" had disappeared. Further tests showed he had been suffering from pancreatitis -a non life-threatening inflammation of the pancreas."

Edit 2: For those vaguely bored/interested, he sold his house in October 2008 for £240k (he'd thought it was worth £280k, but it never was. £240's a fair price for the time/location/desperation).

    Is he still alive?

There's no way to check .... there's no complete list of dead people that you can check ...... his death didn't appear in any searches, but that's not unusual.

He probably still is. 62 in 2007, would be 69 now.... I guess at least he had a damned good declutter...

I noticed that my bin was quite toasty the other day... (holds nose)

    Another vote for a Henry.

As regards these bucket lists I seem to recall that before treatments improved, AIDS was seen as an imminent threat of death, and some people did spend their savings only to find themselves living past their life expectancy in penury.

As regards suing the hospital, great, somebody else doesn't get the treatment they need.

Was walking the dog in the park on this fine day and glanced at the plaques on some benches, where peolpe had deidicayted them to loved ones who'd passed away. First one was someone who died at 51. The second one was at 28. Stopped looking after that and started to feel lucky I was alive.

We all think we're immortal .... I've now reached an age where I think "could be today" all the time though .... suddenly you're old and all you can see around you is people dying who are your age/younger :(
