I dunno. Anything. It's a flat surface, so sometimes I put stuff on it. My phone. My keys. My handbag. My jacket if I come home from work and decide to change into a jumper or something, and haven't yet bothered hanging it back up again.
On the whole you wouldn't be diving in there 5x a day ..... I can see the phone/keys would be a problem but you can grab those off before lifting ... handbag would probably be OK .. and jacket wouldn't move much.

I'd put stuff in there that I didn't really need much/often, but wanted to store ... rather than things I used a lot. And things used more often could be put at the foot end so you only have to lift it up 1' and grope about.

In any case, I don't want one cavernous space. I'd rather have different spaces - one drawer for towels, one for bedding, etc.

The problem I experience with smaller/compartmentalised areas is that you end up with one underused and one overused..... can't get the right balance.

I don't like the idea of one that lifts up like that. I put stuff on my bed too often. Currently I have a divan base with 4 drawers that open to the sides, but I've had the base since 1993 and the mattress since 1999, so it's up for replacement as soon as I get my money next month.

I'd like drawers again, to use the whole, or nearly the whole, of the space, but I'm interested in things that solve the problem of not being able to put a bedside table next to the bed without obstructing the head-end drawers. Will have to investigate. Suggestions from NP welcome. :)

I'd suggest the Ikea bed that has four drawers, but you can also buy behind the headboard pull out shelves which would act as bedside storage, if you liked Ikea :o

We have a 13.5 tog duvet all year round. Heating goes off about 11.30pm and on again at 6am in winter.

We have 4 drawers under the bed. Top 2 are difficult to access as the bedside cupboards are fitted so the whole bed needs moving.

DS1 has sliding doors to the underbed storage, so access is easy but the space is one large area.

I have a 13.5 tog in the winter and in the summer, I use the quilt cover minus the quilt.

In the winter, the heating doesn't get put on until late October and goes off in early March. It is on for 2 hours in the morning between 6 and 8am and then in the evening between 5 and 7, in really cold snaps, it goes on in the evening for an additional hour.

The house is not great with insulation, I feel the cold (as does James) but the other two get overheated and with Josh, being overheated is not pretty or stressfree. We average approx 17 degrees in the winter, although at times, my bedroom is more like 14 or 15 degrees....if it was 22 degrees, I think even I would be too warm!

I keep warm by having a fleece blanket over my quilt and two wheat bags, one for my feet and one for my hands, James has two quilts over him and one under him.....obviously, being away at uni this past winter, he loved the fact that the halls were nice and warm but at times, it was too warm even for him.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Apprpos of nothing I got a text overnight from my newish mobile phone providers telling me I'd used up all my included data. When I looked I've just started a new billing period today.

That was much more pleasing than I expected it to be. A bit like thinking you've lost a tenner and then finding it in the back pocket of your trousers.

Much better than when I got the same kind of message mid-way through the month when I'd just moved in here and not been able to face sorting out a phoneline. They wouldn't let me purchase more data either as I was on an 'unlimited data' package :(

Just a bit disappointed in you that you had to buy a house before you felt worthy enough of openly flirting :)

Lots of groin thrusting to come I guess...

Neither have I. I haven't even been using a hot water bottle this week :)

I have, and OH has just put one in the bed for me. It's really chilly here in Liverpool, plus damp and rained a lot this evening too. Brrrr!

I see you lot are getting plastic bank notes at last. They're great!

You can put them through the washing machine or spend the day in the sea or swimming pool and they end up just fine.

Plus you have to pay CSIRO, Australia's national research body, a licence fee for using it so my taxes go down a bit! (You also pay CSIRO a licence fee for a wifi router as they discovered how to make wifi work).

    They are really very good.
