Not all mineral wealth, no. However, oil and gas do, as well as coal, gold and silver.British_Geological_Survey wrote:With the exception of oil, gas, coal, gold and silver, the state does not own mineral rights in the UK. Generally minerals are held in private ownership, and information on mineral rights, where available, is held by the Land Registry together with details of land surface ownership.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Sorry JR,as LIR said, I believe mineral rights don't come with the freeholdA number of NP are having challenging times at the moment and I am thinking about you all...Chewy, Gen, LiR.
Thinking of NP and how supportive everyone is it has helped me come to a decision...if today's news comes good and I frack up barrels of oil from under my garden I am going to ensure those of you living interesting times get a slice of the proceeds.
As is Pastures luck, all is going well for her at present so she is not likely to get anything:)
Sue is getting two slices.
The reality is that knowing my luck the cost of extraction will outweigh the revenue and I will have to pay for it. Or, it will under my neighbours land and I will be blighted by noise and a view of industrial machinery.
When i was a lad a few good scars was something to be proud of to your mates and something to offer to show the girls....
Not that it matters v much. He's not bothered by having them, and if he's anything like LNE then by the time he's grown up he'll be too hairy for anyone to see them at all.lostinrates wrote: »I have to buy a wire free bra for the ruddy MRI.
ON a completely unrelated topic, could you stand for the UK DD party

Just thinking about apples makes my mouth water. Usually I quarter them NP but today I munched on the whole thing, and big dog ate my core with glee. I think the dogs miss apples too.
How apt
Hope the no no no cat leaves you alone this time, lir0 -
DD and I went out and voted earlier.
I expect turnout here is relatively good .
The vote match for me:
Liberal Democrats
But the local Tory candidate is really nice and we see her as she lives up the road and walks her dog in the woods.0 -

I love lilies, we went to the Chelsea Flower Show in 2013, and I bought some bulbs from Harts Nursery who had a stand in the Pavilion. I chose Triumphator, pink and white and highly scented - it's been just gorgeous in a big pot by our front door. Sorry can't show you a picture of the whole plant (I'm sure I had some, but they didn't make it to Flickr at the time as Life Kept Happening
), but here's one of a single flower.
Hoverfly on lily by ukmaggie45, on Flickr
The lilies have been great since we got them, very happy.
Though we did have a couple of lily beetles on them last autumn  , tooken off the leaves and stamped on on front path!
So if you wanted to go down the mail order or internet shopping I'd definitely recommend Harts Nursery.
Oh, please remember that lily pollen is horribly poisonous to cats (not sure about dogs) which is why we keep our lilies corralled in pot by front door - our neighbours have cats that do come into our front garden. Come to that, they come into back garden too, which is why no lilies out there. Wish I could have more all over back garden (front too full of other stuff already
) but we'll just use more other stuff instead, have lots of plans still!
lemonjelly wrote: »Thanks for the composter link. FWIW I compost pretty much everything!
Happy to hear you do composting, best not to compost potato peelings as they can grow volunteer spuds... Can be a problem if you're in an area affected by blight. And NEVER put tomato seedie rubbish in - you'll have more tomato plants than you can cope with all over garden when you spread the compost! :rotfl: I'm sure you prob know all this already, but it might be useful for somebody else who is perusing this thread.

Here voting for any election has all ended up on a local nimby issue.
I enjoyed this when candidates for local came round because they do
Caused on it and asked if we were pro or against and DH and I said one was for and one against, The angst on their faces as they tried to decide what to say was priceless.
Euro elections too are being asked local rag ' but what about 'nimby issue'. DH was amazing. We didn't have many choices, but he really researched each and every one. He asked me who a party were a few weeks ago and I said, 'um, don't really know about them,' and he ohoned up later to tell me they were racists.
This year is the closest I got to not voting, not cos I don't care, but because just no one I feel I believe in here.
I got a funny pic of a ukip supporter yesterday, not sure whether its fair to post here though.0
