Drove back to Kingston hospital to pick OH up - she had an operation this morning.
Hoping for swift and uneventful recoveries for both of you.lostinrates wrote: »That bloody lumbar puncture is back on the cards. We discussed the risks specific to the issue I have and he agreed its risky, but explained Why its going to need to be done and why it should always have been done under specific conditions in my case. So I'm cool with it now, because he was honest.
That is the thing, isn't it? If they're honest, and they explain properly, it makes all the difference. Glad this one was one of the good ones. Hope the next one is too.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Absolutely. The risks acknowledge and it agreed that I am not a candidate to hand over to juniors but to be done under very specific conditions ( my neurologist who I dislike felt differently initially) I accept and agree to the risks. Its never been about the procedure itself but som e specific issues to me and risks I felt uncomfortable discussing here really. Those acknowledged I feel its something I can make balanced judgement to trust over.
Chewy, what awful stress you two are both under right now! Enjoy your lovely view together.0 -
Poor show, I was expecting you to recommend some cashback deal whereby they actually pay you to take out insurance.
Have in the past but they are wiser to it now - originally you could get high cash back for contents and buildings taken seperately.
Ours this year is £25 after cashback for contents with same companty we had last year, their renewal price was £87I think....0 -
Crumbs, chewy, you and your OH have got a lot on your plates - really hope you manage to feel refreshed and relaxed about it all, despite the pressure of the house!
Sounds as though you trust the new person, LIR, and can 'work' with them; really pleased to see that progress even if it means that things keep changing as to what might be planned next for you.
Nice to 'see' you, LJ.
Apologies if I've forgotten anything significant from the last couple days' posts.
I'm not quite sure whether I'm coming or going at the moment (when I left work on Monday evening I wished a colleague a 'good weekend', and thought it was Sunday when I woke up the following morning). My own work has had to be put on hold for 3-4 days in order to prepare stuff for others in the organisation. Yes, the stuff was important and did need doing, and I was probably the right person in my team to assist, but it's been a right pain and one of the things took 12 hours to do. What got me cross is that the person who had requested that thing to be done said "It won't take long". Grr. He was completely unsighted on what his (disproportionate) request involved and wouldn't relent on requesting it.
My senior manager is having words with his line manager as we're having quite a few difficulties like that with him at the moment. He's a new manager and needs breaking in ... !
I've also started trying to get used to my varifocals. I can't say I'm convinced yet. Overall, my vision is not as good because I can't see as much in focus as I could with my previous short-sighted glasses. The new glasses have larger lenses, which are quite a bit heavier and a little painful on the nose, and the arms are digging in behind the ears. I'll give them a decent try, but I'm not convinced that all progress is good.0 -

Hmm - pretty tempting for me to stick with the standard lenses and continue pushing them out the way to read the tiny print....I think....0 -
Game of Thrones. seasons 1 and 2 are well worth it. Then there's Breaking Bad, The Wire, the Sopranoes or catch up with the Americans or Fargo.
Americans is good.PasturesNew wrote: »You probably own a couple of handbags worth more than all my possessions .....
These assumptions again....handbags do nothing for me. The most expensive handbag I own costs under £50 and that was bought for me.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. A pretty uneventful day for once....tomorrow is going to be a killer though with lots of rushing around.
We got youngest's revised statement (or something now known as a 100 something a as he is 16), he read through some of it, disagreed with most of it and asked where they got all that stuff.....forgetting he was the one who was in the meeting with the integrated team lady answering the questions!
In his head he is perfectly fine, can do everything, in reality when it comes to actually doing these things, he can't.
It still provides for 25 hours one to one a week plus all the other support he receives...oh and the possibility of specialised transport to college if he cannot cope with the school bus.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Sounds good, Sue... IF it actually happens. Did they ever actually start providing the 25 hours that they claimed not to know he hadn't been receiving?
Does this mention of college mean that he will be going somewhere else after GCSEs rather than staying on at the same school for sixth form?Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Totally apropos of nothing, found this youtube video showing how many atom bombs have exploded in the first half-century of their use. I'd never have guessed how many there were. (I'd have assumed double figures)
What would other NPs have guessed?:oThere is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
