The whole collection adds up to a total that's not hugely different from what I would earn if I were doing my current job full time.

But presumably less than if he were alive and you were working part time and he was paying maintenance?

I'm also guessing that if the decree absolute had been granted, you would still have got the same amount less the initial £11,800?
Eventually they will want to swap me onto UC, which would be much more intrusive means testing, except that I won't have to deal with that because I won't qualify. UC will be means tested for capital as well as income, you see, whereas CTC/WTC is only means tested for income.

Would maintenance have been included in means testing?

I think the Polish popular vote relates to the number of Polish immigrants spread thru Europe (especially UK, Ireland and Sweden), in Spain it is Romanians and in Germany, The Turks (when they qualify). I think immigrants are more likely to vote for their home country in these pointless contests. Almost a census of who moved where.

Just checked back. The last time Poland were in the final was 2008 they only scored 14 points, a gold star for anyone who can guess which two countries donated those points (no juries in those days).
    Yip, UK snd Ireland :)

If a married person dies in an accident for which somebody else is liable, then whoever's liable has to pay the widow(er) a statutory "bereavement award" of £11,800. You can claim more than that in compensation only if you can prove that you were dependent on the dead person for money or "services", and then what you can claim depends what they were providing you with.

I wasn't married and got nowt - not that I wanted any money, but good old marriage means you get more.

Big day for Mr Putin today:rotfl:

On another note, I had my blood test results today - could be better but could also be worse.

Very high amount of antibodies. She did try to explain but she's Polish or Russian or something and I was just nodding.

She gave me some sheets on treatment and wants to speak to another GP who isn't back until Monday to decide if I start on one medication or carry on using the medication she prescribed today.

They then monitor me closely every couple of weeks whilst on medication.

Apparently the blood test doesn't show if Graves Disease or not - I have to go to the hospital with the Endocrinologist to find that out. A lot of miscommunication or a case of my GP's being of a different mother tongue to me and me mis-understanding.

She said I may have to have my employer find another role for me as heavy lifting will not be possible in a few months.

That was this morning - then after work this evening, I have a letter asking me to phone choose and book to get an appointment. I did it online and got July 10th to see Endocrinologist.

So, a bit confused right now. GP was friendly, but talkative and not really wanting to answer my Q's.

Not in a bad mood. but maybe just a worried one. :o

Grrr lost a post. Miroslav, I wouldn't worry too much ilf possible. It might simply be they want you to get advice straight from the 'experts', who will write back to GP with their opinion keeping GP in loop.

I think it can confuse or unsettle people if gps give advice which then the consultant says, yes well, NOWADAYS we prefer....... ;).

Definitely start considering the things suggested though. Adjustment stinks. :(.

    Take care.

I'm trying not too - taking positives that GP thinks I can lead a relatively normal life.

She hasn't suggested much - job role changing which I really don't know if their is another role in either workplace and the tablets.

Apparently lifestyle doesn't need to change other than that. It's just frustrating but this is better than dreadful news.

I'm not 100% on what loads of antibodies means and i'm not looking today - i've had enough of this already and it's only just begun (Was about to burst into The Carpenters) but I will look tomorrow.

GP calling me Monday re: medication. I get the feeling the other GP (they job share) is more senior.

I make it with fresh tuna often too. Doesn't mean I like it more. :D

I am a huge fan of those little marinated anchovies, And ones in oil actually. I love anchovies. I don't like them packed in salt though.

Anchovies are great. Really good studded into roast lamb along with garlic and rosemary.

That salsa thing is great. I used to make it to have with rouget (little snapper-type fish that are dirt cheap) in France. If you bulk out the olive oil a bit and pour in the juice you get from the fruit rather than drinking it as you go along then it's amazing on a salad. You can also replace the dill with flat leaf parsley. That works well too.

The trick is to let it sit for a couple of hours or even a day to 'cook' the onion and fennel a bit. If you use blood oranges it looks amazing too.

I've got another weekend of dog & house sitting which will be great. Shame that there's no Olympics.

I've just been watching several programmes on the Yesterday channel, some of those Who Do You Think You Are ones:

Amanda Redman - fascinating story of her mother's older brother that left home at an early age and was never heard of again, some time after that he'd been having an affair with a married woman and had a child with her and he had a 2nd woman on the go with a child. Programme interviewed the woman he'd had an affair with, the child had died just 6 years earlier and the child of the 2nd woman had no idea of any of this, nor of her newly found family.

Alan Carr - his ancestor was a WW1 deserter who'd used an alias to hide and when he'd first run away he'd lived in a house just yards from a house AC had lived in. He met his grandfather's sister, the only one of that family still alive - and had a full family reunion with her and her downline. She'd not seen him since he was about 2 and he had no idea she even existed/was still alive. She'd known there was another name being bandied about, but not why ...

Robin Gibb - his G-GM had been a midwife and had been reported for some misdemeanour, but the records weren't open until 2013. He applied for the information anyway and got the transcripts (minus the baby's name) and found out the story. She'd then died 2 years later, 3 days before she was due to retire... but he met two old ladies who had known her and been delivered by her. One of them was inspired by her and became a midwife herself.

LOVE these things where they're more "recent history" stories. Those that follow somebody's spurious/dull line back 8 generations to try to find some titled kn0b aren't as interesting.

I remember back in the late 70s/early 80s or so that there was a problem with cod availability/price and our local chippy was selling some other fish that was similar to cod, but a smaller 'grain' so to speak.... I think it was New Zealand Hoki, but I could be wrong on that name.... not a fish officionado.....

Tried it, it tasted like cod, but the flesh broke down into smaller chunks. If it were on a menu (in batter, without skin/eyes/bones/etc) I'd eat it again.

Let me know how you get on. You just need the tiniest drop of oil, just to lubricate it. Blood oranges should be in the shops about now from memory.

    Edit: Googled it, Hoki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blue_grenadier

We get all sorts of 'I can't believe it's not cod' down here. Hoki, leather jackets, yellow heads. I miss cod. The chippies are generally pretty good over here though.
