Bereavement award. Now I understand it, I am surprised it is so little.

Your income stream looks complicated to say the least. So long as it is 'enough' I suppose the sources are immaterial, except if the complexity involves a lot of administration and accounting to others about your 'means'.

Yes it is rather. In addition to all that, I get small pensions from both the C of E and the NHS for DS and DD. Currently they're payable to me to spend on bringing them up and providing for them, but they'll get them themselves when they're older, until they leave full time education (or turn 23).

    Altogether I get:

Salary (part time) monthly on 26th
My NHS pension monthly on 1st
DS and DD's NHS pensions monthly on 23rd
C of E pensions for all three of us monthly on the last day of the month
    WPA 4-weekly on a Friday
    Child/working tax credit 4-weekly on a Monday
Child benefit 4-weekly on a Monday (but not the same Monday as CTC/WTC)

The whole collection adds up to a total that's not hugely different from what I would earn if I were doing my current job full time.

The only one that's means tested is the CTC/WTC. That only involves filling in a form once a year about the previous year's income, and letting them know every time there's a change in my childcare expenses (ie after school club for DD). Eventually they will want to swap me onto UC, which would be much more intrusive means testing, except that I won't have to deal with that because I won't qualify. UC will be means tested for capital as well as income, you see, whereas CTC/WTC is only means tested for income.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Option appraisal:
    Either throw the chair out
    or
    arrange a repair

    Cost/benefit:

Replacement cost/cash flow vs how much you like it and opportunity cost

    Risk assessment:
    Yep. Plenty.

Not scolding but asking in context with your current situation, have you not got enough mobility/health & safety problems without looking for trouble?

I feel as exasperated as when I read of the school not looking after basics for Sue's sons .

I will be arranging repair. :D. I have been looking for casters or new legs for it on and off for a while. I think it would be easier to have armchairs as kitchen chairs of they had wheels, tucking is bad for chair legs.

Its only a very little leg, its an armchair not a kitchen one, and the leg is about four inches, so the worst that could happen is I slide onto the floor.

In a bit I'll move over to the sofa, don't worry.

Fortunately I do not know where your live and I am not fit to drive which saves us the embarrassment of me breaking in and hiding it.

You are more vulnerable and you can sit on the sofa until it is repaired.

I'd fix it myself but it has a weird metal plate thing for the leg that's bent. I might have a look at it tomorrow and see what I'd actually need. :o

My good boy geese were in by the time I was out. And their are flares on the big hill, like angels dropping to earth. I went out to birds and horses in shorts ( with boots and a big jumper, It must be VERY warm if its shorts at night weather. DH is walking home, pleased to be in fresh air.

We have chicks. Unplanned. One yellow one and a bunch of brown stripey ones.

I trust someone was a good boy and didn't turn up in a dress and with a beard (sorry, couldn't resist).

Is Putin short? He looks short. I would like to know the answer when he gets back.

I went to put the chickens in,

My good boy geese were in .

Tonight three of our chooks including the cockerel have not come in. I have chased a fox out of the field and so has DD. They were last seen this afternoon in a nieghbours garden two doors down.

They have not done this before so I hope they have found somewhere safe for the night.:(
