Nice to hear from you, NDG, and lovely to hear about NDGbaby :j

Congratulations on getting the application in, masomnia.

Gen's suggestion to look at the CIPD website is a good one. There's the professions map, which has a number of broad headings so you can see how different parts of HR fit together / complement each other. Also, there are descriptions of types of work at each of the levels of membership, so if you're looking at an entry level job (Associate) in one of the headings, you can see what types of competencies / behaviours they might be looking for - you can crib some key words ;)

Must get started on the resilience course - having signed up last night. Procrastination is one of my strong points :o

Haven't had (or now got) time to read anything, but hope LIR told you that Aethelbald (name firming up, but not definite, yet) arrived at 5.43am on Monday morning. We got home yesterday, but I haven't touched my computer until now, and my mother's just arriving so I'll be quick now and post a photo and more details later.

He's lovely, gorgeous, utterly wonderful, and has fair skin, reddish-brown hair, and is altogether rather sweet. I accept I'm a wee bit biased, but still in post-birth euphoria!

I'll congratulate you and NDB again although with 2 boys you know that means you can't stop yet...

For viva in particular, they have some sort of library operating on the platform at St Albans' train station. Don't know how it works but sounds interesting.

I do remember James saying something about it on the Tannoy but I have to admit not having noticed anything, still working my way through Herts Library ebook selection on my Nook.

Our Spanish student (now departed) spent his afternoons in the local library working so he may have met an NP.

Tonight I am on baby sitting duties, DW has gone to a DD2 first communion meeting with another mother and I have our 3 plus 2 others but Despicable Me 2 seems to be doing the business, I did ask if they wanted me to read them a story but they chose the movie....
    I think....

    Masomania,

How did your CIPD meeting go today? What did you discuss?

    Not my idea of fun.

I worked in a startup estate agency on Saturday morning when I was 16, and only used them recently as they offered half commission as a former employee.

I didn't mind the job, but didn't enjoy having customers personal details splashed around the office, trying to get as much money from them as possible.......

Ahhhh, we are handing out Lego with the Daily Mail at one of my jobs and we ask each customer. Some people are coming up with numerous copies of the Daily Mail to get more free lego, but we are limited to 5 per customer.

How much lego are we talking for whatever the DM costs?

I'll bet I could get a non-branded similar product (have some in the attic, but can't remember the name of it) a lot cheaper than that.

Ooh, I wonder what that is... not heard anything about it. Will have to ask around the 'library community'. Thanks silver.

Kindle Fire of some sort? If so, it's worth checking the free app of the day each day. I've had some interesting freebies that way. I'd also download ES3 as the file management system on a Kindle otherwise is a bit of a mare. I do like my kindle fire though.

ETA... Now reading ahead, glad your DH is ok!

I prefer my iPad, although at the same time, I've had it nearly 3 years now and can't see any reason why I won't get that again from it.

My mother has one of the kindles with the internet connection etc on it, and that's good for what she wants it for, but I prefer that everything syncs onto all devices with the current setup I have.

It's probably all in personal choice here, rather than anything else

    Vent vent vent.

We are still arguing about a completion date. Agent keeps ringing me saying chain will collapse if we don't exchange by Friday. Then says his clients can't do the date we proposed for completion because they have work meetings on that date. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.

    Health Admin fails.

OH needed medical help yesterday evening (urgent but not serious), so we went to the local walk in clinic. They said the waiting time was an hour and a half. So fine he waits, then after 45 minutes they announce they are closing and he should go and find a local A&E instead! They obviously knew that their wait time would take it past the closing time, so why didn't they say that at the start? We then had another wait of another hour, but all then sorted.

We had to wait for nearly 4 hours to be seen at Kingston hospital today. Admittedly 30 mins of that was because we turned up 30 minutes early for our appointment but the other 3.5 hours was not.

Some of the waiting time was spent receiving frazzled calls from the estate agent (see above) which did not improve my already foul mood.

CK... your tour list needs updating to include Valetta and Vienna.

We had such a good time we're considering going to the latter.

It's just a small bag with something to build in - this poster here shows what you get each day (although Friday and Saturday of this week are missed off) http://3.vsr.vz.tl/assets/images/cached/lHB3MPv-360.jpg

Daily Mail is 60p, 90p on a Saturday and £1.50 on Sunday.

Great value really considering lego is quite expensive these days.
