YES, you can choose, and should. Parent was referred NHs I think, I was referred NHs ( incorrectly) to uclh last year ( I requested a private referral) because I had opted to see a particular doctor who was a specialist in one of my major issues.

Left four years ago, but didn't get far. :) only went there as an adult.

    I will ask then.

A bit confused this morning as the nurse said I was being tested for Thyroid Antibodies (googling now) - is Graves Disease an antibody?

She didn't know much else - very friendly, but I guess they don't get all the info from GP's or my notes?

    A little confused.

I've just read that the test would be for Antibodies, which will also confirm whether Graves Disease or something else will be causing the Hyperthyroidism.

Yes. We will text, email and some days there will be calls. In the grand scheme of things we will do OK and we are very lucky. Not a smug married, I think NP know me well enough to know this is authentic.

And our dog will be in a total decline as he is devoted to him. He was lying next to OHs suitcase in the hall, as he knows what that signals. he obviously does not know how long his 'dad' is away for though.

OH, DD and I went out for lunch today and had a family meal together this evening before he left. We are used to him being away, it just seems like a long time this time and we just love being together.

He is also facing a busy time and there are current complex politics in that region.

Some contact is good, even if it's not in the same place at the same time.

Poor dog. My cats are/were the same with me. I am/was very close to them. Hope he doesn't feel too down.

A lot to catch up on - may have to leave lots of posts until tomorrow - but wanted to reply quickly to this. I have a friend who had hyperthyroidism. It wasn't pretty at the time, but she ended up having the surgery, which was completely straightforward and successful, and she's been totally fine for years since. So there are certainly people for whom this is very treatable. :)

Not that that stops it being scary and distressing. Have a dodgy hug, if you accept such things from pixels you've only just met: :grouphug:

Hope you find some RL people to give you proper hugs and be a bit more sensitive and supportive than your idiot boss.

It's good(?) to hear of other people with the condition, in a reassuring kind of way - hope that comes out right.

I hope I just have medication - i'm not even sure how long it will take for me to see the Endocrinologist - what if it's weeks/months? I'm struggling enough now.

Thanks for the dodgy hug - that does look extremely dodgy :rotfl::rotfl:

I have two jobs and my boss at the other one was very nice, because she's having blood tests for the same - I only found this out yesterday. It's funny as I get on with people at my other job better, usually.

Happened to switch over to BBC3 and now watching a bit of the Eurovision live semi-final; only caught the recaps. Was the Irish lady singing in tune? Did the interval-filling Aussie group just say the word "genitalia"? Is this really very weird??!

I refuse to watch this year....German entry (last year) Cascada only came 21st.

Natalie is a goddess and she came 21st - disgusting. Brilliant song too.

I might end up watching tomorrow anyway, I usually do!

Seth and Aaron are both good names, although I don't know your OH surname (or would you go for Seth / Aaron NDG?). Elijah too easily shortened or mangled.

I have an Aaron in my family. My favourite though is Elijah.

Um... greetings from not so sunny copenhagen. Graham Norton flew out on same plane as us, what a nice man! Welcome to the thread Miroslav. Apologies, a bit otherwise occupied at the moment.

You can only quote 3 at a time, unless you copy and paste and use [ QUOTE ] etc yourself around the additional posts.

When we take anyone on, it's permanant and guaranteed 40 hours per week. I feel slightly dinosaur, but it's important to me that as a company we offer the most secure employment possible.

I would like to point out that CKs type of work is totally different to mine and it's particularly beneficial to us to retain people for as long as we possibly can. About 75% of our employees stay with us until they retire.

I've never had a job I regarded as permanent... It's strange but in my industry you're at risk of becoming long term unemployed if you stay in the same job too long. Companies won't hire you. Particularly odd when it's all about knowlege / experience.

Graham Norton is lovely. He straddled me in the green room, once. :rotfl: Doozer insists that it was him he straddled, and I appreciate it sounds more likely, but it was me. Doozer held his wine.

    Have a nice time!

We've gone from being favorite to win, to being 4th this year, but I'm still holding out a little hope.

Viva - My DD's will be here in about 25 minutes (so I'd better get to the airport)

Which rehearsal are you booked into? I'm assuming third.....

    I've been Money Tipped!
    I'm back. Much quicker today.

I'm being referred on from great doctor, who thinks I am just too weird, but definitely thinks chances are I do have this relatively unusual secondary condition.

I'm not convinced actually. But partly because The irony about this would be extreme. Many times over ridiculous. Sufferers of This condition call it 'the ugly disease'. As I never try to hide the fact I am vain and the impact on how I look of ill health has been one of the hardest parts this prospect is not cheering me up much. I'm also cross that I am being referred to a specialist the type of which I already see. Consultant today feels this should have been tested for two years ago looking at my file. Thought treatment today is much better when this was first identified life expectancy was 4 to five years. That's not the case now, but I'll be piddled off if I've missed two years of treatment whilst people were saying well....what do you expect.......

Cheating death once seems good, twice would seem a bit of a roulette game I wouldn't enter and as I did go back and get medical help then I'll feel a bit let down. Its rare, but we know I'm a freak.

Oh well, not confirmed, and as I say, I am not convinced. I feel really well today ( apart from bloody right ankle) and was surprised that my bp was worse than last time. I wasn't stressed or flappy like often am, so no reason for it 'emotionally'.
