Fair enough. What about the grandfather on the other side?

In think they may have managed to get both so honoured.

I read that earlier; I also saw the BBC3 TV programme where unemployed people were shipped down from up country with an 8 week job experience placement to see if they liked it and if they were offered a job. In 6 parts, I watched the last one late last night.

Some did get a job offer and took it. Some were placed in jobs where there'd never be a job. One very good worker, for example, was just offered a Saturday job (in a shop) at the end.... which is no use to somebody with nothing looking to relocate.

Good worker = full-time, if you want someone to relocate.

We offer 500 hour/year contracts, however in recent times, that's been IEO 3000, even for the guys we took on last year.

When we take anyone on, it's permanant and guaranteed 40 hours per week. I feel slightly dinosaur, but it's important to me that as a company we offer the most secure employment possible.

I would like to point out that CKs type of work is totally different to mine and it's particularly beneficial to us to retain people for as long as we possibly can. About 75% of our employees stay with us until they retire.

Yes and I am scarred for life ... and have NEVER shared the location with anybody.

The streetcar's since been past again and now, bizarrely, I'm there, but on the next shot I'm not. I am on a join point, so one photo is me in about 2008/2009 with my car parked some feet away - and the next shot is 2012 minus me and different cars in the parking bays.

Right NP, I think we need some team work. Does anyone have a big map so we can divide up that end of the country and find PN? :D

Yes. We work largely on 5 year contracts, whereas Bugslet is a specialist in her area. Whilst we are highly specialist, we have a large number of competitors, both smaller and larger, whereas this isn't the case on the same scale for Bugs.

    Yes, it begins with "O"

A boy in my school was called John-Paul (Catholic family), and his younger brother George. Unfortunately, the opportunity for a full house was missed when DC3 turned out to be a girl.

I've got a whole four competitors CK, used to be more, but they seem to be dwindling; it's good and bad.

My last two drivers that retired from the Salford office had been here 25 years and 23 years. I'd seen their children grown up and have children of their own. Heck I feel old!

It was just a little woolshop.

Even with a small company, the ability to recruit and retain decent staff is essential.

We offer a 500 hours contract, but also offer matched 12.5% pension contributions, salary sacrifice vehicle, health/life insurance to 5x salary etc etc. One of the best offers on the market IMO.
