Yes that. She could well want/need to change her mind afterwards. hope all goes well for her.
Doozer, I missed the story before - what truck, what engine block. Professional interest:o
It's only a small truck. A Nissan 4x4 pick up. It broke last year and was fixed by means of a reconditioned engine in January. Something flew out the side of the engine a few weeks ago, rendering it even more useless than it was before.
I don't even know what an engine block is, but I guess that was what either came out or something came out the side of.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I'm having a full breakfast shortlyGoing to clean the house a bit (I keep saying I'll do it and then don't) and I have 12 bottles of wine arriving at some point. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Garage doors. Are they expensive?
Would people recommend not having electric ones? (TBH I CBA keeping up with servicing anyway...:o )It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

It's the whole engine casing, with all the precision drilling in it .... and hefty bolt holes so it can be screwed to the vehicle panels and stay in place0 -

The engine block is the bloody great big lump of metal that the fuel gets pumped into, set fire to, has the subsequent power moved from to the wheels, the exhaust taken away from and is cooled down.
Normally it's a bit of piston that gets shot out of the engine block as that has the most energy.0 -

They can be cheap or expensive.... Sarah Beeny showed some to a "double your house, half the budget" programme this week.... so posh ones; I'm sure you can get a regular, metal, up and over for £400-500 easily enough
Some sample prices (from memory) she showed them were from £1000 for a wide garage door through to about £10,000 for one that's a super duper, fully electric, sliding door that disappears into a false wall all by remote control and that is also fully insulated once shut so the area can be used as an indoor playroom/other room.
What sort do you want?
Electric, manual
Single, double
Up and over in one piece - or 4 pieces
Slidey, posh, remote one that slides across
Do you want a separate door in it so you can get in/out without opening it?
Do you need an electrician to wire up power to it?
I once spent £1k on one .... it was a lot of work though. Had half a huge workshop demolished, holes dug out with cement, solid/huge wooden frame put in place, separate electrical circuit put in from front of house to end of garden, then a 9' wide remote control electric one fitted.... and when I drove in the lights came on inside.0 -

Er what Gen and PN say.
Kind of horse stable bolt moment, but never put a recon engine in unless you plan to get rid of it. Occasionally a recon works, but not often IME, of which I have too much;). If the conrod's gone through the block then yes, kind of back to square one. Sorry.:(0 -
My breakfast, consumed several hours ago now, was: Two slices of toast, half a tin of Mr T's 20p spag bol, two 'microwave fried' eggs and a splash of brown sauce. A 35p breakfast that was a plate full0

...conrod...
I dated an apprentice mechanic back in the 70s and did all his college homework for him and at weekends we'd strip down engines. I then drove wrecks for years, fixing them myself.... wouldn't like to change oil these days, it's all grubby under the bonnet......0 -

You see, I think that's a perfectly reasonable thing to do and suitably romantic:o0
