I've been as honest as I can with the Generissimos within the confines of what they can understand.
They know that I've been very sick and that I have a disease that could kill me although it probably won't. They know to avoid my ear as it hurts like hell. They also know that it's going to be a long road to recovery and that sometimes I'm going to have to be a bit selfish.
The hardest thing at the moment is people trying to jolly me out of it. I've got bloody cancer, it's horrible and it's painful and quite frankly the people that are telling me that I should pull myself together are the ones that kvetch on a Monday morning about how difficult life is. I'm the sole breadwinner who's trying to keep the money rolling in while all I really want to do is go to bed for a week.0 -

I'll be visiting 'family' who I've never met, including one whose house I am not allowed to visit ... and one who rarely leaves their house. Cousin is agrophobic (when it suits for dramatic reasons) and she's told me (although she's a well-known drama queen and liar) that her brother would just refuse to meet me as he doesn't meet people. All bizarre. I'll be staying with a control freak aunty whose version of events/conversations/everything is created in her own head and therefore, by her thinking it, becomes reality.
Really ...... looking forward to it .... not.
You've just described my mother in law. You wouldn't believe the stuff she makes up. B&B!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

There is a lot of Garden that can grow in two weeks at this time of year.
Hope everyone is fine. I've finished the course, and am now almost caught up on things. Did grass cutting and weeding over the weekend.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

39 weeks today.
My Dad just rang "to see how you are" following a text from my darling Mama about 15 minutes before asking the same thing.... You'd think they suspect we might forget to tell them we've had a baby, which is relatively improbable, especially as my Mama's poised to come and stay in our flat to look after Isaac when required....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Have you ever been to the Isles of Scilly? They are magical, too.
Foot a lot better but I discovered on saturday morning that ditching the ugly shoe for a few hours is not a good idea yet:o.
No never been to the Scilly Isles, I think it's probably on a list! He's come a long way in those few years but he is still way behind what most 16 year olds are capable of...blimey, he doesn't even go out on his own alone, let alone anything else the normal 16 year old is up to!
I hope you can keep him calm then Sue. I'm sorry my knowledge of schools and children are somewhat limited, but I wish you both the best. The Hertfordshire dream is over.
Writing this week off!
Yep, it's not been a great week for NPs. Have some alcohol, dust yourself down and then back into the fray.0 -
I mentioned this in passing a day or so back, but for anyone who missed it. There's a new MOOC (online course) from a company called edX, called Becoming a Resilient Person, the Science of Stress Management.
It's for people who are dealing with high levels of stress or whose resilience levels are low, perhaps due to long-term chronic pressures. There's a description at the website below, but given what we've been discussing for several months now, it seemed quite timely:
https://www.edx.org/course/uwashingtonx/uwashingtonx-ecfs311x-becoming-resilient-1652?utm_source=edX+Course+Announcements+Mailing+List&utm_campaign=c2d1424d3e-Student_Newsletter_May_4_2014&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_237694b56d-c2d1424d3e-61243421#.U2oRqygTdEN
It's basically for people who have to deal with chronic stress and to teach coping strategies to people who may not have benefitted from such teaching in the past.
Hope you don't mind me posting... not aimed at anyone in particular, but looks very good. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? No never been to the Scilly Isles, I think it's probably on a list!
It was some years ago (10-12?) and I was living in the county and my friend had saved up the vouchers in the local paper where you got the boat daytrip crossing for £15. So off we went.
It was nice.... journey was loooooooong and tedious. I had to spend the whole time sitting "sideways" so I rocked left/right and not back/forth (so I wasn't sick). Got off the boat, nice... walked round the harbour edge and there was a 1950s Tour Bus, so we hopped on and did the "round the island tour". Got back, went in a pub for a half .... and that was it. Nowhere else to go, didn't want to miss the boat sailing back, so we sat on the beach for the next hour or two .....0
