Cheers - glad to see I'm not the only one doing it the MSE way :)

At least you knew Kerry Packer was a bloke.
Back then there was less media making constant noise, so it was easier to pick out/retain a few random names.

These days, with wall to wall events/celebs/noise and media it's a different world!!

    Don't be a stranger.

If it is a Thurs or Fri and in this direction I would be happy to help. I can do private:o

Before I became a disaster I had private healthcare insurance through OH. My profile put their premiums up...so OH employer 'bought' spouse cover out.

Can you tell I am in the air. I wrote 'write' but was thinking wrong!

Indeed. That's why I get my 12 year old chimney sweep to do it.

I have never heard of that country ... if this was a quiz I'd guess it was a beer :)

I think it has a football team but am extremely hazy as to where the country actually is. :o
RP won't be parted from phone, but I do have an old sat nav that only has limited charge. I could charge it for return journey. :). This might solve that problem.

Can you connect it up to charge as you drive along? Macputer would be car 12V socket (aka cig lighter socket) to USB adaptor, USB to macputer cable. Satnav should be similar.

Phoned my aunt to arrange to meet for lunch in a few week's time. Talked for 45 min until my phone battery about to die. She is as much of a talker as I am. Last time we talked she was in hospital and we talked until the nurses chucked me out for the end of visiting time.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I am still driving the courtesy car. Have stopped whinging about it as I only inspire DD to remind me of why I am driving it:o

DD probably achieved precisely what she was aiming at, there (-:

Didn't realise they screwed to each other and to the wall. That makes more sense. :)

I much prefer shelves that do, I hate the idea of them falling over on top of someone.

A new baby we know came to visit us when he was a couple of months old. He appeared to have both his hands bandaged like a boxer.

He had had his 6th fingers removed that week.

If they work, I think I'd leave them alone.

True, but OTOH the excess of women in rural China/India isn't much use to Masomnia unless he goes there to meet them. Demographics for the UK are probably more relevant in this context than global ones.

It's an excess of men - so Masomnia is far better off avoiding China and India!

Always worth it, just in case. Something like £300, fitted, I think if the rest of the wiring is okay. :)

Thanks Doozer. We had a lot of the wiring replaced when we had the new heaters fitted. It was my brother who recommended the RCD. He had a new consumer unit fitted with an RCD when he had his house rewired. He also has all dual-pole sockets which is something we've started to phase in here. It's good to hear someone else talk about the hard-wired ones.

I'm sure our house wouldn't pass the latest regs, but its a long way from being bad.

So, picture the scene. You're a student at university. You're worried about student loans/fees/debts. Older brother has a well paid job in London, & is fairly minted. You have conversations about money & debts & your worries. Older brother issues a challenge:

Remain in the Library at university for 6 weeks. You can leave for 45 minutes of each day to wash & change clothes. 23 hours 15 mins every day must be spent in the library. You use that to study, work hard. Complete this for 6 weeks, & pass your degree, & I'll pay off all your student debts in full.

A worthy challenge. What a fab idea!

It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
