Thought I'd say hello. Had a nice productive day here. Weather has been nice, and while I haven't been outside, it is nice to see sunshine outside and have the windows open.

Car's doing ok, glad I kept her. She's had nice new brakes, and is having a service and MOT on Thursday. I haven't repaired any of the damage for which she was written off so it will be kind of ironic if she passes. Still as I say it was a lesson learned; and the £140 I got from the insurance company for the write-off will cover the service and MOT almost.

So far I've seen a bonnet on ebay for £50 that's the right colour, but it has a massive scratch in it so it's not really worth it. I'm happy enough to leave the dent for now, it's annoying, but I'm not paying hundreds for a new bonnet. The only other thing is the headlamps, which not be aligned properly, and with them being broken they might need replacing. I was going to do that myself this week, and then have it MOTed, but I've decided instead to risk the MOT; if they need doing then I can replace them, if it passes then there's been no cost.

Also, I've applied for a job in Herts, so I might get be a proper nice person :D:D:D

Great photo. What's all that grey stuff in the sky where the sun is meant to be?

Every time I travel to the med I understand better why the Romans just had a word for blue but not grey.

My Dad said, "this pregnancy's gone really fast!" and my mother dug him in the ribs to shut him up. She said only other people's pregnancies go fast (-:

OH was at a stag-do yesterday - a collection of stereotypes, really, go-karting, then beer festival, then curry. He had fun, but is now "resting" on the sofa. Which looks like "sleeping on the sofa" to anyone else.....

I'm on the train back from a hen do. We went go karting yesterday. I was pretty rubbish, but at least I was polite with it and moved out of the way to let everyone go past me.

It was all very well behaved really. In fact I was probably the least well behaved as I got a kiss from a stranger (though of course I am single so not really bad).

Was great going out and having a dance. Funnily enough one of the songs we heard was Tom Jones 'War', as mentioned on another thread, which we thought was a slightly odd choice.

lydia, its just one jump for heating atm, the bathroom isn't actually signed off and in use officially and there are a few issues to resolve as a result of that. nothing major we hope, should be resolved monday, and signed off friday i hope. NEXT time dh home we'll have a bathtogether:)

we do have hot water from utility room tap and termp bathroom taps. it makes astounding difference to feeling of humanity. hard to break habits though...we keep boiling kettles to do odd bits of washing up

This is going to sound strange but I reckon putting up without hot water for more than 24 hours is a posh alert.

70%. (If he is self publishing) .

It's fair, if people want the books they ought to pay for 'em.

He's welcome to it. My point is that in the 2013 'office hours' video he says they put 3000 hours into preparing the course - I think that's everyone at Duke and Coursera, combined. And both Duke and Coursera are not being paid for it. He also reckoned that 2014 might take 1000 hours.

OTOH, if Dan makes say £60k per year in extra royalties on his books, through increased sales, that ought to be counted in the equation somewhere. It works out at about £30 per man-hour if the course only runs two years, but more per man-hour the longer it runs. If he keeps all the royalties, it works out at a good deal more per hour of his own time involved in this project.

Having said that, for what I'm paying for the course, it's a bargain! And, he's also right that they'll have to come up with some way of making this whole thing pay in the long run. That probably means course fees.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

A quick pit stop to say that Dan Ariely is not self-published. He's with Harper Collins.
