Doozerboy's phone is out of battery, he's on carpenter's phone and in a really dodgy area. I've just had a rather important but arduous call with him because of that. I feel sick from concentrating, but if you want to call him then late afternoon should be good.
Need to go for a walk. Really nauseous.
I dunno what the joists are like, I've never been up there. I'd like to but.......
I'll talk to P tomorrow and see what he thinks. He might say I am mad and so it would be a waste of doozers time and phone battery.. He usually uses my charger when he is here!

New tenants are complaining about smoke smell. Carpets and curtains have be cleaned and property was let unfurnished. Any other suggestions from NPs?
Go check? I don't think you smoke michaels, so you'd pick up on it if it did. Otherwise give it a good airing with the windows open.
A bit left field from me, but some woody smells can smell a bit smoky if you are not used to them. There's a hotel I use in Barcelona that has wood panelling everywhere and that smells a bit smoky to me, even though absolutely nobody smokes in the area that smells smoky. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

It does smell smoky. I think a few days of airing and it would be gone or got used to...cleaning co suggests washing down with sugar soap but due to the size of that job that repainting ceilings would be more cost effective.I think....0 -

There are all the usual "old style" remedies of bicarb of soda left out and/or sprinkled and left overnight and vacuumed.... and, no doubt, some bowls of white vinegar ideas..... you might find if you buy them 3-4 canisters of Febreze and a couple of quality smelling room freshners, it'll disappear as they replace it with "their own smells" so to speak.0 -

Then they will complain of the smell of febreeze!
Really the previous tenants should have arranged for professional carpet cleaning.
Problem is that new tenants will believing the place stinks of smoke even after an airing.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Flat overseas had a holiday rental where tenants complained about everything possible. Problem is that letting agent seems to agree with tenants on everything. Sighs! I want to scream that its a holiday let and they shouldn't be so fussy.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I must remember to only take on clients with apple products.
I think it's the 'retina' on the macputer that is causing the nausea. It might be nice for pictures and browsing, but I feel a sort of motion sickness when using word and excel heavily, which I am. It skews the screen when I scroll.
It's great though, I was able to spend the morning drinking pots of tea in a little independent coffee shop in town this morning. I feel quite free! Having my car today is niceI'm at school at the side of the cricket pitch doing my emails now, during tea - I've had enough of that already!

Depends what every thing is though, and what sort of standard they were paying for/receiving.
I feel a difference between a holiday rental and a house here in that michaels tenants presumably went round the place, and had opportunity to sniff? Where as at a holiday rental you are told its x and till you get there you've gone on trust.
What I would complain about would depend. I made the hotel I went to exactly a year ago change rooms because it was not what I'd booked and agreed.0 -
I'm going to ask one of my daft questions now ... if you're Jewish and need two sinks in your kitchen, for different purposes .... and if you rent your place out .... does it matter/what can you do after the event .... if somebody's been doing whatever in each of those sinks (from using them for the "wrong thing" within the religious definition, through to washing their feet in them)?0
