    Good luck, Nikkster!...

My workload means I read a few books per year.
I seem to read about 30 books a year I think. Perhaps a few more. Of course it depends on the type of book & how into it I get. Every once in a while I pull a "biggie" off the shelf.
I guess I might read a few less in the near future, but then a fair few in the garden if I'm good.

It's kind of that. I get an email with just a name on it and have to go to the website where it shows the full public list of names and donations. After the flurry last night after I fell asleep, I'd be pushed to know who is who.

It's very strange as some of the emailed names register a blank for me (obviously) but I recognise everyone on the public list :) Those who put 'anonymous' means I'm still none the wiser even with a real name on the emails. :o

Thanks everyone. I'm expecting another SantaFace in the morning!! :j

You could change your name to Dr. by deed pole?
Little thing, & perhaps NDG has popped up, but it is deed poll
Statutory Declaration would be more MSE.

    Afternoon all :-)

Thank you! Little Miss is amazed at how nice everyone has been and can 't believe how much is in the pot. She thought that we wouldn't raise as much as £50 even with Nanny and Grandad and Daddy, who haven't yet sponsored her. She's going to write you all a note at some point either today or tomorrow after the mile :)

She stayed up last night and watched Sport Relief with the boys until late - after I'd fallen asleep and thought she was in bed! She relayed stories to me at lunch and explained that she was sad that charities have to exist.
    Cracking story.:)

I'm not convinced that you can, actually. There are a few limitations. I'm pretty sure that professor is okay, though. :)

Professor is not okay, neither is doctor.

I have been very busy, and have only just started on Dan's lecture course, although I did some of the preliminary reading. I've just spotted the speed-up button on the videos. What speed do most people listen at?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

AIUI, anyone can call themselves 'Dr' as a title, there is no need to apply to the courts to do so. It is a criminal offence to pass yourself off as a medical Dr which is why the Awful Poo Lady got into trouble for calling herself a Dr.

Having a struggling afternoon. I live with anxiety / panic attacks; most of the time I live with the restrictions it places on me and just get on with life. However, sometimes it gets a bit debilitating when I feel completely burnt out.

Bit late replying to this - Life Happened. ;)

Sorry to hear you suffer from this debilitating condition. I used to suffer badly with anxiety when in my last job (over 20 years ago now), the form it took for me was what I called "The Impending Dooms". A form of free-floating anxiety I think. After I lost my job due to (other) ongoing ill health that more or less stopped. Only to return when my parents both died within about 6 weeks of each other. Ended up in A&E on one occasion with chest pains, they were very kind when it turned out I wasn't having heart probs, but did encourage me to continue with the bereavement counselling that I had only just started. I have found counselling helpful. I was lucky that I was able to see somebody that I knew from around the time I lost my job, though have to see them privately now as their NHS job is long gone. Still see them intermittently as and when feel need more support. I'm sure it's not the answer for everyone, and you really do need to find a Counsellor you like and trust (I saw 2 others who I regard as pretty useless *for me* before I found the one I now see). It's a very personal thing in my view. Just thought I'd mention it, didn't just want to read and run.

Sending you supportive Vibes from Liverpool, and hoping you are feeling better for your flexi day off.

I take it that means you wouldn't go for fixed rate savings then? I have heard recently that one of the companies I'm suing has got new solicitors who are much more interested in settling with me (and therefore keeping down my costs that will get added to my claim) so it's possible it may only be a few months before I get into the "more money than debt" category.

I would absolutely be avoiding any sort of fixed savings rate at the moment.

If you want a really low risk investment then index linked bonds are your choice.

If you want some risk to get a return, a company that pays a low or no dividend because it's growing quickly and so reinvesting the cash it throws off is probably a good idea.

The exception, again IMHO, is BHP Billiton/Rio Tinto. They will be throwing off vast amounts of cash over the next few years and will be paying massive dividends as they don't have any further big investment opportunities. Those two companies are the most screaming buys on the market right now I reckon.

If you want to take a big gamble that may or may not pay off, Fortescue Metals is an interesting company. They have had some 'interesting' relationships with various politicians but I think they might make you a few bob too. They do also have the capacity to lose you a lot of money so be warned.

Fill yer boots as they say.

If Lydia is anything like me her question was whether she go for a 5 year 3% ISA or a 1 year 2% one....

Thanks for the suggestion. I gave it up some time ago, and stick with PG Tips decaff, which is a decently strong cuppa still. Chocolate, though, is a step too far on the caffeine-giving-up-front I must confess. :D

Chocolate doesn't contain caffeine. People may tell you that it does but they are wrong and are probably socialists or something equally dreadful.

If chocolate had caffeine in it then I wouldn't eat it. I do therefore it doesn't. QED.
