Well Gen, whether you're having a good day or a bad day, we'll all be here for you just as much.

I have every confidence that you'll get this sorted.
Am looking forward to my stint as a podium girl :)

In more trivial and me-related news, its a good job I'm the other side of a good few drinks. Stupidly checked my emails and there is a big old draft of a document that has been sent back to me with comments. I guess I'll be watching a lot less TV in the next however many weeks. Not sure whether I'm :) or :( but at least I don't have to think about it this weekend.

    Good luck, Nikkster!

If you can get this done it will be really worthwhile in the long run.

In this internet /on demand age I watch almost no TV at all. Which amazes me as when I was a kid TV was expanding from 2 to 3 channels and turning colour with loads of imported American colour TV movies (their colour TV programmes had very poor weird colour, but they made loads of programmes using film cameras which the UK rarely did).

I got cable TV because I wnated access to as much TV as possible. Very disappointing if truth be told.

My workload means I read a few books per year.

Thank you. Exactly the information I wanted.

It's kind of that. I get an email with just a name on it and have to go to the website where it shows the full public list of names and donations. After the flurry last night after I fell asleep, I'd be pushed to know who is who.

It's very strange as some of the emailed names register a blank for me (obviously) but I recognise everyone on the public list :) Those who put 'anonymous' means I'm still none the wiser even with a real name on the emails. :o

Thanks everyone. I'm expecting another SantaFace in the morning!! :j

Dr Morgan, my specialist, said that the best case scenario is PET scan shows no other tumours and then Leon gets hacked out on Tuesday and that's that.

The most likely outcome is that I'll have to have some chemo either to kill other tumours or as a prophylactic.

When Leon was still a cyst the ultra scan showed up other small lumps in the same area so unfortunately I think chemo is very much on the cards.

We'll see though. This is all just speculation. Nothing can possibly go wrong from here I think it's fair to say.

Sounds as though the docs are communicating well with you. That's good.

How is Mrs Gen taking the news? Are you telling the Generalissimos, or keeping it from them for the time being?

    That's not trivial.

Do you have a deadline this time? Do you need one to get you motivated? Is there anything the NP can do to support you?

Tell us what she says, won't you? Wish we could see the SantaFace too. :D

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

In Australia you consume medical treatment like you consume plumbing services or beauty treatments. As a result you can take as much or as little control of your treatment as you want.

I had a biopsy and the doctor wanted to do it without a local. We had a conversation about it and I ended up having a small amount of local anesthetic. Doctors will advise you but they won't tell you what must be done in the same way that the NHS system tends to do (not a value judgement just an observation). A couple of times now I've been presented with a range of choices and ended up saying to the Doc, "What would you tell your son to do in this situation?".

One thing I do know is that Doctors treat cancers far more aggressively than they accept for themselves. If I come down to a couple of months to live or something then I'm going to go for quality rather than quantity of life.

Mrs Generali seems to be taking it quite well. I kinda have the feeling that there's something underneath what she's telling me that isn't so good. That'll come out in time.

Your supervisor has taken around 6 months to send you your draft back???!!!

Anyway, I'm so pleased for you that you seem to be on the final lap of your marathon. Well done for sticking with it, and I hope it's not too much work to finish it off. :j:j:j:j
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Is this your PhD thesis, Nik, or work, or something else altogether?

Best of luck whatever it is.

Just checked the sponsor page for Doozergirl and MiniDoozer. They're at £123.50 now. :)

I trust you. In another world, I would like to know if it is possible for the name to be linked to the real person.
