Cake is now ready. 11 hours!
Fortunately for me, my darling Mama's going to get up with Isaac in the morning. So all I have to do is put it in a dog-proof place, and then go to bed.
The person who allowed a dog to scoff it after all our collective hard work would not be popular, I suspect........much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Sue those cakes are stunning!“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0

They are, I am full of awe for anyone who can do it, and getting the icing flat's a nightmare, isn't it?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

I am amazed at the cake making brilliance of the NP. I can just about manage fairy cakes. I've never even thought about fruit destalking or icing flatness. I can see that they are really made with love. And we'll done Isaac for helping. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? When LNE and I moved from a flat to a house, but before we owned a car, we decided we needed compost for the garden. We walked about half a mile to the garden centre, and bought several large sacks of the stuff. Then we bought a wheelbarrow, and persuaded the garden centre staff to lend us a spanner to put its wheel and handles on. Then we wheeled the compost home in the barrow, taking turns.
A few years ago, we went out for lunch on a lovely spring day and after lunch popped into a garden centre. We had a bit of splurge and bought a good number of well sized shrubs, including a bamboo and bedding plants.
On taking them out to load into the car, we 'remembered' we had taken my MG Midget for an outing and not the usual family estate.
Of course everything 'fitted' including wedging plants around the driver. The car looked like a window box and we drove home very slowly.0 -
I got a bloody parking ticket today when taking The Girl swimming. $101 for parking with my nose to the fence rather than my rear.
Better get any anti-Cornish comments up here while you can if you are so minded. It made me think, is there an insulting word for Cornish people? There are for the Welsh (e.g. Taff), Scots and (Northern) Irish obviously. I can't think of one for Cornish people.0 -

DS1 (then aged about 4) once came home from a party complaining that the fairy cakes I made were always topless, whereas friend's mummys made cakes with icing or wings.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
