We have mostly white walls (too many high buildings in central London, so want it to be as light as possible and make the most of our big windows) and nice coloured, in our view, dark red sofas and purple or blue curtains.

Isaac sparked out early last night, and sadly, from a combination of it being 2 hours later in Israel and all that waking up early to climb giant lumps of rock in the desert, woke at 6am. We did have the chat Lydia suggested a fortnight or so ago about early rising at home, but he's less able to sort himself here - can't reach drinks / breakfast type snacks, no idea where clean clothes were.

OH is, unusually, absolutely fast asleep, so I've got up with him, and having sorted him with clean pants, socks, T-shirt and trousers, am going back to cuddle up to OH shortly, leaving Isaac on my mother's computer. My Dad'll be up soon, anyway.

OH was reporting a conversation last night he overheard Isaac having with a large group of small cousins over their time in Israel. Asked what Easter was about, Isaac gave a reasonable explanation in Hebrew.

Isaac's Hebrew is fluent, thanks to OH's constant efforts since he was a baby, but his vocab's obviously quite a bit smaller than in English, as Isaac speaks to most people in English as well as his education being in English.

OH reckoned the explanation could be translated along the lines, "Jesus was a Jew like Abba, and the Romans thought he was causing trouble. So they killed him on a cross in Jerusalem after Passover, and three days later he stopped being dead and Easter is about being happy he was undead."

Asked how chocolate eggs fitted into this scenario, he said he didn't know, but suggested that Easter is supposed to be happy because Jesus came alive again, and eating chocolate makes people happy.

OH is a bit worried that this group of young Israelis has an image of Jerusalem in 34 AD or so being occupied by chocolate-scoffing zombies.....

I also made myself a little work area in the corner of the living room :20140420_154114_zpsraddtfkt.jpg

It's not an attractive desk, but it's functional (one of the desks that was left here). I'm hoping it's added incentive to get a move on typing so I can get rid of it :rotfl:

Nice one. When I look at things like that I think "pull desk away from the wall, then turn it round, so you're looking into the room when using it" - as sitting up a corner is more like being in prison .... the flaw with this thinking is often rooms are too small to have the luxury of being able to do that without the whole room looking like an office :)

Or, "a comfy home we live in" as we prefer to call it :)

Let's face it - away from the TV cameras and magazine spreads, this is how we really live.

Took the dog for his necessary constitutional tonight. The park was full of mist and beautiful to look at. :j

About to start a Game of Thrones Box set as everybody is advising me it's worth watching.

Our good friend appears in it, completely starkers as his character is being killed, I think. I've not watched it.

I think of you more as monkeys :)

I've always known my house would be colourful. It's a rebellion against magnolia. I've lost count of the number of times my mum would tell me that when I had my own house it could be painted rainbow colours if I liked, but not until then. It's now likely to be a fairly pastel rainbow, and more of the blue/ green/ purple end of the spectrum - but it will be colourful :D

The bird thing has taken me a bit more by surprise. I'm not overly 'into' actual birds (they're ok from afar, but those beaks and claws look nasty). It's not a conscious thing, but I definitely seem to be drawn to bird-related decor at the moment.

I dislike pastels. They're like pretend colours. Nothing goes with pastels, except other pastels. When I wanted a purple room, my mum has it painted lilac. Lilac is not purple.

If you love pastels, go for it, but don't hold back for the sake of what you think is tasteful.

Our friends have just bought a new house. She was showing me her collection of cow things as a result of her mother deciding she collected them. She was wrangling with getting rid of them.

That feeling of guilt when people buy you ornaments that you hate. I have little trouble on that front as my family are like elephants and break everything. I have two swans that somehow have broken and mended necks - an improvement on things disappearing altogether.

I have a glass handbag that I can't see the point of, but doesn't break.

I like pastels. Its about context and usuage. I like most colours and colour families tbh, in some contexts. I am not keen on some shades of blue.

I think often pastel is used where a glossier bright light colour would be better for practical purposes and purpose of style.

My kitchen, for example, is essentially 'pastel' and I think it looks great. :D

The truck is presently being loaded onto a massive recovery truck to go to London to be fixed. It's very broken. Something has shot out the side of the engine. It was a new engine two months ago so it should be covered under warranty. The cost of getting it to London isn't.

I'm also informed that it's been broken into outside the garage H took it to. Wondering why anyone would break into it, I was subsequently informed that my relatively new, fancy brand, lightweight £200 hoover was lying on the back seat. "Was" being the operative word.
