One day I'll be a grown up and have a beautiful matching set of mugs for when people pop in for a coffee and a chat.

Until then, I'm comforted by my studentsville surroundings:)
(plus there is no-one else here to throw things away)

My Granny gave me a set of 8 matching mugs when we (well, she didn't realise it was a "we" at that stage, we were flatmates at the time) moved into our flat in Holborn at the start of our second year at uni. We've not broken any yet, either.

We also have lots of random mugs, obviously. Including OH's favourite for coffee, given to him by sister #1, that says, "Trust me, I'm a lawyer".

The trouble in my house is that one of us hates throwing things out and the other is pretty ruthless...

There were mugs everywhere at one point. Most had to go :A

I think a lot of houses have that combination. I'd guess that it's often the man who is keener to chuck stuff and be minimalist, but I could be completely wrong. It is here, anyway. OH likes minimal "stuff".

I guess you must do cash accounting?

I have no idea. I do "what my accountant tells me to do" accounting.

Le Creuset pans. (no idea what these are or for)
A salt dish. (you mean a salt cellar?)
A decanter. (it's called a bottle.... I mean why, pour it out of one thing, into another thing, so you can pour it? !!!!!!?)
    A wine thermometer.
A golf club rack. (why take them out the bag for goodness sakes?)

They are incredibly heavy casserole-type pans, useful for shoving stuff in the oven, or braining an intruder, I suppose. We have two, my mother gave them to us.

Salt dishes are for organic, corse-grained table salt. Different from a salt cellar.

You know what decanters, wine thermometers and golf club racks are, you just don't see the point, I reckon. We have none of those things (-:

Applied for a job today in a local shop. The 'vibes' feel good, the hours are perfect for a start back to work, no idea what the pay is but don't really care...if it's minimum wage, then that will be the first time in my employment history that I would be paid a very basic wage.

I don't care though, after the break from paid employment I have had, I cannot really expect anything more than minimum wage.

It's a very different area to which I have ever worked in but what the hey, change is as good as a rest as they say.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I do have four "posh" plates. I picked them up in 2008/2009 or so from a factory outlet. They're from that posh shop where you normally can't afford stuff - Whittards of Chelsea. I got them for £1.50 each I think.

Huge plates they are - plenty of space for pie, chips and peas, or a whole pizza. I got one matching bowl too - big enough to hold a whole indian curry and rice. I think that was £1.50 too.

Here is one, pinned on Pinterest http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/236x/dd/5d/26/dd5d26fdd7b9da4429827a8ad1cf9294.jpg

I have a Le Creuset oven dish. It had been left behind in a student house I moved into (which wasn't supposed to have cookware provided). I adopted it and it has moved with me ever since.

I have been offered a set of Le Creuset pans by my parents (otherwise they were going to a charity shop). Thought it was a good idea to say yes. No delivery date arranged as of yet - I think they're being safely stored for me for the foreseeable future.

I'm sure it's nothing you can't pick up really quickly, Sue. You're a very capable lady.

As maggie might say - good vibes being sent from slightly north east of you :)

I have one posh plate, two posh side plates and two posh bowls. All from my days at a well-known kitchenware retailer. I also have one 14 year old Tesco Value plate (one died when I used it to try to make a steamer out of a frying pan) and a cereal bowl I 'acquired' at the same time as the aforementioned Le Creuset oven dish. I also acquired a few more random plates and bowls here.

One day I will have fancy plates to go with the fancy mugs I will also own one day. Until then, people are either happy to eat off what I have, can bring their own crockery, or can decline to eat here.

Edit: I do have some 'posh' stuff (aka things I've bought more recently because I really like them - not so bothered whether anyone else likes them ;))
    1. Some Dartington tumblers (TK Maxx) - I thought they looked nice and they sit very nicely in my hands
    2. 2 sets of Le Creuset mini casserole dishes (TK Maxx, further reduced) - one green set and one purple set. Very pretty. Purchased in readiness for house buying. Have mentioned before - think Doozergirl has the purple ones.
    2. A set of sugar and milk/ cream jugs (TK Maxx, further reduced) - again purchased in readiness for house buying. Shiny and pretty. I just liked them. Ready for my posh matching mugs when I'm 'doing coffee' etc ;)

    I am 11% posh.

A lot of the stuff on the list brings to mind either petty bourgeois or a fool and his money...

I wine thermometer. Really? Sounds like one of those presents men get given because a family member has a vague recollection that they have an interest in something but as they know nothing about the subject get the present wrong and buy something useless. Most of the crap kitchen gadgets I've thrown out down the years and rubbish cook books that have gone to Oxfam or the Salvos have been well meant or lazy gifts.

Not all cook books as presents are bad. I got a great one from BiL and his GF this year. It's from this place:

An indication of what my life has become: it is the equivalent of a Friday night, and I've just bought a water butt and a set of garden tools.

Good Friday morning here. I was the first one up which I love.

I'm in the process of cleaning the kitchen so I can make some more bread with the Generalissimos.

    Good (Friday) morning Gen :)

I have some part-baked baguettes for this weekend. I don't expect that counts for much though.
Enjoy making proper bread with your little ones :)
