Food is never planned in my house. I buy food ... then I eat what I can be bothered to put together.
I've got two ready meals from Lidl as a treat (Thai chicken curry/rice; chicken balti/rice) and a Lidl cheese/onion flan. So that's 4-5 meals.
I've got a loaf of bread (not long-life this time) and 15 eggs - so there's a big bunch of scrambled eggs on toast. 7-10 meals worth. Also to go in bread I've got 1Kg of mature cheddar and some cherry tomatoes.
I've two individual cheesecakes, 4 packets of crisps and some sweeties.
Between that lot that'll most likely be the weekend food.0 -
Edit: 1. Some Dartington tumblers (TK Maxx)
2. 2 sets of Le Creuset mini casserole dishes (TK Maxx
2. A set of sugar and milk/ cream jugs (TK Maxx,
I've no glasses - I used to have glasses but never used them. I don't have/drink wine and rarely drink other drinks. I use a mug for cold drinks.
I picked up 3 small dishes, purple, yesterday in the 99p shopNot casseroles. I'd like a casserole at some point but need to work out what sort/size as I'd only really have room for one in the cupboards and there's no point getting a collection of them if I'd only use it 3x a year.... so that's just a thought.
I've never had those.... you can probably add One Posh Point to your score for thinking of owning them0 -
I am 11% posh.
Most of the crap kitchen gadgets I've thrown out down the years and rubbish cook books that have gone to Oxfam or the Salvos have been well meant or lazy gifts.
Not all cook books as presents are bad. I got a great one from BiL and his GF this year. It's from this place:

Cookery books made up 14 of the top 20 non fiction titles last time I looked. And if you looked at those a substantial number would be on baking, or by celebrity chefs. Which is probably why the latest Mary Berry is flying off our shelves at the moment. I'm glad I'm not responsible for buying cookbooks. I'd never have any budget left for anything else.Good Friday morning here. I was the first one up which I love.
I'm in the process of cleaning the kitchen so I can make some more bread with the Generalissimos.
Sounds fun and as though the kids love doing it too. I keep meaning to write a family cookbook. Just some stuff about what I make and why I make it as I do.
If I'm having radiotherapy I might have some time on my hands to do it. Something like that would be good to send the kids out into the world with.
You could call it something funky like the 'Angels Dancing on my Tongue' cookbook. It's a great idea! Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Am going to make several basic white loaves to get my eye in first. I think I spotted a flaw today: last time the bread was better although slightly burned.
Today is cooler but importantly I think much less humid. It was hard to knead and harder to get the right balance of water. I think it wanted a little more time to prove.
The loaf tasted pretty good.
I'd like to be making croissants by the time I go back to work. That's pretty challenging.
I went through a similar process to this to perfect making roast spuds. I am well known in England and Australia for making a <false modesty>pretty good</false modesty> roast potato.0 -

I am a bit fanatical about cooking but I think it's important for everyone to be passionate about something. For me that's food.
I'd love to do a Hugh Fernley-Whatsit and grow pretty much all I eat and make a business from it. That's the very long term aim, cancer permitting.0 -
