That's a month earlier than me
I was just walking down the street and saw some thin stripey fabric and thought "hmm.... beach hut voiles for french doors ...." so wandered in. They had a choice of colours, but none that I thought were "the one" ..... then she mentioned the price..... I'd need about 4 metres wide by a 2 metre drop (guessing) .... so that's 8 sq metres. This stuff was £55/sqm.... I exited quite quickly
I can find some "make do" voile-style material on the cheap (maybe dunelm/similar) for about £20-40 I expect... then a couple of cheery stencils (£10) and some fabric paint (£5) ... job'll be a good 'un.
Link might not work, but made me think of a deckchair (in a nice way):

What kind of stripes did you see earlier?0 -
What kind of stripes did you see earlier?
The material was like thin webbing, so a bit see through. Stripes were muted colours in 1" equal-width stripes.
It wasn't "great material".... I just had no idea any thin material could ever cost that much so went in to ask. I've googled it, it's a posh/"ladies who lunch" style "bespoke interior design" shop ... for posh birds, not me with my £5 kagoul, £5 fake crocs, £1-shop reading glasses perched on my head and £2 charity shop jeans0 -

Should have asked: are you particularly thinking of stripes? If so, what type?0 -

Not sure what my BMI is. 5'1", weighed the other week at 9st7lbs.
Just found a calculator: "Your BMI is 25.1 - overweight".
25 is the top end of "healthy weight", so I just need to eat one less pie this week.
If your BMI is 25.1 you aren't fat. You may not be as thin as you want to be but you'll look perfectly fine.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Well, it was just a whim as I saw this stuff in the window and I was killing time before picking the car up ..... so haven't really given it any thought......
Just find anything that's "muted/beach theme" and cheap0 -

How big are your windows?
I have some 'vintage' blue very dark blue on white pin stripe cotton curtains I am reluctant to part with because they have find memories. They always seem sea- y to me. If they were going somewhere to a friend I'd be happy to let them go. They need hemming though. They are VERY thin and not insulated, so would be only be suitable for summer curtains as are. One could of course line them.0 -

When I saw them and mulled the idea over I thought "the venetians, in the enclosure .... and then voiles hanging curtain-like, to be used as curtains sometimes; to soften the venetians at other times. 40% functional, 60% dressing. House is modern, with a high energy efficiency rating.
I think I'd rather take my chances with cheapo/ebay than have the responsibility of owning your "memory curtains"
You would have been welcome to them...once yours they would be yours to whatever with. But they won't be big enough..

.
We both win
You get to be kind and offer .... and still keep your memory curtains.
I get to receive the offer and enjoy the thought ... without the responsibility of making the rest of the room/house look utterly fabulous to justify such treasures being present.0 -
