I think you might have to back away a bit. And reply with a non-commital email saying that you won't be assisting any more as your assistance is clearly not helpful.
Otherwise you get sucked in....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Angels with yeast infections. Tee hee.
Hope the experiment goes well
I made some bread for the first time the other weekend. Nothing fancy, I'd been given a pre-mix thing from Aldi. Was all going ok (well, apart from being hungry and having forgotten how many times it would need to rest) until I realised I'd forgotten to pre heat the oven. I was out of patience by that point (I think that was when the boiler was refusing to work), which meant I ended up with something rather undercooked in the middle. Still ate it though (grilled as toast).0 -
Thanks Gen and Nikk
Nikk, I've managed to arrange (deleted)
I've offered the option... (deleted) ...and the only way to get cheaper would surely be to employ someone part-time.

IMO, it's just a lot more stress I could do without at the moment (deleted)
ETA: Thanks NDG, that's the way my thoughts are straying too!

Weather's nice here.... if it's like that there you'd get dehydrated waiting too.... plenty of cold lemonade in your own fridge, close to the telly0 -

I like the idea of this as there's less need to be watching the clock and it'd be possible to make it up one day, lob it in the fridge, then do the knock back the next day at some random point.
Cheers.
If this works out ok then I might have a go at making a sourdough starter with the Generalissimos. They seem pretty excited by today's bread making. The yeast action is quite magical as is getting the gluten working.0 -

Can you get buttermilk easily in Australia?
If so, soda bread was something we often made with my mother at weekends when we were little, it's quick, and no need to wait around for too much rising, and great to eat, as well....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I guess people who aren't plagued with a lifetime of "being useless, only knowing others who are useless", those who cruise through life easily can never understand why people like me are loathe to try new things unaided and alone ..... it's because things don't work right.0
