I had a little shopping fest of my own today in the two major villages in our Hampshire valley.

There was a fab toy shop and I bought an easter present for next door's grandson and a couple of presents for great nephews/nieces for next Christmas. I will put them away and not find them until January.

Over the course of this week I've scrubbed out a kitchen cupboard, chucked some of the random stuff that had been left in it and cleaned the rest (I might need a collection of unmatching mugs). I've put all the random stuff out of the way on the top shelf which I can only reach standing on a chair, and have now unpacked another box. This one contained my tea collection. I have an incredible diversity of teas for someone who rarely drinks the stuff.

I've never done that - I'd do it if I knew/remembered, if the skies were clear and if I knew which direction I had to look at (and if that direction wasn't full of trees as it so often seems to be (unless I get the car out and go for a drive, then it's a bit daft).

Which way round, though? Him ignoring having us there at the finish for me, or me ignoring standing around being there for him?

I will. He's going to bed now, having finished mooching about aimlessly (and having finished packing, too).

That Marathon thing's been going 34 years, but it's mostly Londoners who know about it ... to the rest of us it's something we see on the news when it's over

Always featured largely in my childhood, because church became evensong that week instead of Matins. The starts are around Blackheath, where I grew up.
