Just spent the last X minutes Googling, no stairs like mine... but closest, to demonstrate size are these
    http://cdn.freshome.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/storage-space-stairs-25.jpg
But - my stairs aren't as wide, so cupboard not as deep. Look just at the part in the photo that has been converted (not the rest).

I've a set of plans from the developers I googled, see if that gives sizes.... unlikely to as they aren't the full plans, with sizes.... and not really for the use I am now trying to put them to :)

Had a look ... too hard for me to crop/adjust and upload that and end up with anything meaningful. Only 2/3rds of the stairs are in the hallway; first 3-4 stairs are bottom step and initial quarter turn .... so if you deduct the final 3-4 stairs which are the other side of the wall (guessing) it's about 5-6 stairs width max.

To be honest, no fat person would have even been able to view the house as the stairs are so narrow and there was a childgate at the bottom.

EDIT: Or, another way to try to view it is this photo:

Stairs start like that and turn, then take the first set of drawers and as far across the 2nd set as the top knob is. But, again, the stairs are nowhere near as wide as that.

Yes, I want the wall but to be on hinges, so it looks normal panelled staircase like now, but is this hidden litter tray bit. :). Then we can clean it out easily but smell should be contained and the whole area in there can have an area of mat to stop litter tracking out to the house.

    In theory.

At £000/sq metre that's an expensive litter tray cover :)

But think of what usable square metre age it frees up using an otherwise pretty useless space.

Well, it could be a mega storage space for really useful things.... from a huge larder/store, to somewhere to store your winter/summer clothes as the seasons change.... or somewhere for special books .... or anything.

Maybe I can't envisage a world where there's already enough/too much storage. I can't even work out where I'll be able to fit a swing top bin in the kitchen! Or saucepans, or a veg rack ....

Kitchen's big on paper .... but not in functional layout. They say 12x11' but I think some of that's poetic licence by measuring into the deepest recesses.... but, say, 12'x9' ... which sounds massive until you're in it and realise why there's not much storage....from memory I think there are 4 base units and 3 narrow wall units.

    :D

    That made me feel better.

    Its kinda funny.

I have to pee in a mammoth bottle for twenty four hours they just called to tell me.

Apparently I have done this a few times before and don't remember. I asked for two bottles and they said no that all my piddle would fit in this one and I'll understand when I see it.

If its so huge that it fits a day of my piddle in I'm not sure I'll be able to carry it any where. :rotfl:

Only about £ 50 overpriced now

Our current one Colgate was allegedly 100 but free with a 4 pack of heads from wait rose. Given what the heads cost it may be more cost effective to get a new one than buy more heads when they run out. I do think the sonic ones make your teeth feel cleaner than the cheaper ones.

In negotiation over rent, possible tenant being very pushy for a big reduction below asking rate which has annoyed me so have dug my heels in, willing to accept 10% off but not 20, perhaps in a months time if we have a void I will be regretting it....
    I think....
