UPDATE: Found it
Some months ago I posted the details of a blinds company - for Michaels' information.
The blinds retrofit to windows by putting a "frame" round the venetians on (typically) doors, so they don't flap about when you open/close them.
This sort of thing: http://www.odl.com/blinds_addon.htm or http://www.uniblind.co.uk/ (that might even be them)
Here's the post: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=64113174&postcount=1215
Company are: http://www.conceptblindsdirect.co.uk/blinds-88.htm
Keywords: venetian blinds frame enclosed (so I can find it again)
Guessing height/width, looks like they'll be about £50-60 per door.... so, with the two side windows, probably £200 delivered and fitted. That's doable.0 -
I g through posts backwards and just seen NDG asking lir not to consider not posting:eek:. Not post - not allowed!lemonjelly wrote: »I'll be the one at the side of the dance floor. LJ, you would make a lovely chap for the right lady. As lire, says, we are mostly not dangerous or odd.
On the subject of dancing, I'm usually on the floor before everyone else and then prone to shuffling off grumbling when the dance floor gets full:o
Children, never for a nanosecond have I wanted one, distinctly lacking in the maternal gene. I do have an actual phobia about babies and very small children; babies are Ok to be around as they can't move to far. Toddlers are particularly scary, especially in a small confined space, as they tend to make sudden random moves. Once they get to about 3, I'm fine. Considering I have a friend with a phobia of buttons, I think I'm not too weird!
oh and another vote for a full survey too, LJ.
On the dancing front, I should be at a bellydancing festival this weekend. i will be going, but no dancing as the foot is still swollen, though the bruising is going down and I am now wearing flipflops instead of one cut up slipper and one trainer. Oh, the lack of style.....0 -
Sorry PN, i don't kep notes and so usually end up struggling with a search
I love kids, feel I have a lot to give them...but am also fairly pessimistic about the medium term future for the planet so I basically have to ignore my concerns for what sort of world my kids may be living in when they are grandparents...I think....0 -
Do you think all parents feel that way though michaels, did your parents worry about the world you would grow up in?
I agree with the theory that world gets better and better overall, medical advancements, the ability to feed people globally and to find answers to problems just seems to improve all the time. In a short timeframe maybe things can be seen to be worse, but overall I think that standards of living will carry on improving, though it would take a crystal ball to work out how. And I don't think anyone has ever described me as pollyanna-ish!:)0 -

Compare the lives we have to Victorians or even to Elizabethans and we have an awfully long way to fall before life becomes even moderately uncomfortable.
GDP per capita halving only takes us back to what? 1960 perhaps. I'm very optimistic about the future, except the coming zombie robot apocalypse of course.0 -

Planet issues are why I personally would have wanted one or maybe two, for replacement rate max.
The pensions argue ment really doesn't swing it for me. I care less for people than I do for planets tbh.
I have a clock, but the ticking is fading. I knew I wanted not to be an 'older mother'. I'm not saying its universally bad, though I do thing biologically society is a bit topsy turvy over benefits of (health and financial impact) of age of procreation) but personally my mother was older and my father not quite so old but older than others at school and its not what I wanted for ME, or any child I had. DH felt the same, his parents were about my dad's age. We both wanted them at about 28/30 which seems decent compromise between having a long youth and plenty young enough to roll on the floor and run hard and tough with them .
I most particularly would not want to be going through menopause with a teenage daughter going through puberty. It was fought from my point of view as the teen,I doubt it was easier the other way!0 -
I'm very happy having 2 kids. Mrs Generali would have liked a dozen given half a chance I reckon, certainly 4-6.
She would also have wanted me to be extremely rich as she would want them all go to the best schools with all the extras, 3-4 holidays a year etc.0 -

Tbh, I'd also be very comfortable with the idea of surrogacy. Not having babies and my body is wrecked. The idea of what a clutch of them could do to me makes me shudder a bit, though...I think its beautiful too.
Edit: Any thing else doing the same ...and only parasitologists would be as interested in what was going on in there and so I find it kind of funny how instinctively we ( almost ) universally grant acceptance over unborn doing much the same.0 -

Solicitor's legal fee £375.00
No move, no fee INCLUDED
TT fee (1 x bank transfer) INCLUDED
SDLT form and electronic submission fee INCLUDED
VAT £75.00
TOTAL LEGAL FEES £450.00
That's about £300 cheaper than the first quote I had, which I think was £625+VAT, plus TT fee.
That's half what we pay ours. Is that a firm of solicitors?
It's certainly cheap!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
