I'd guesstimated £3k, so there goes £400 of curries.
Conveyancing "raw fee" £675 seemed a bit steep though.... maybe I'm out of touch.
And do I need the Chancel Repair Indemnity now the law changed and the deadline passed?
Can you breakdown please - ish?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

She likes my started freezer inventory. I rubbed out meat yesterday and started preliminary divisions into Animal, vegetable or milkable. Home made ready meals are under Twenty Questions. ( even though a good half or so are labelled)0

Compliments are hard, DH finds this frustrating in women like you ( and I) who have been screwed over in the past and perhaps not best educated in receiving them, but you should know that when I say them I mean them. I sometimes look hard to find so etching to compliment, but with you I didn't have to.
Thank you (genuine, not forced). Trying to resist the urge to state I'm really not after compliments etc on here - just the ability to chat with friends - but that might count as being ungraciousWill you be amongst friends, with a plus one or mixing with new people? You sound so up for the possibility of meeting someone new on this happy occassion.
You have made me think as Miss Spirit is at a friends wedding in June, she has not said if she is taking + 1, it is the first wedding she has gone to as a 'single woman'.
Her ex tends to invite her as his +1 to things, she generally declines, but your post has made me wonder what she will do as this is a wedding where she only knows the bride and groom .
Yes, amongst friends. Received my first ever +1 invitation for the evening. Accepted the invitation whilst declining the +1. Asked if I'd like to go along for the whole day
Is Miss Spirit going to the hen do? They are a great way to get to know some of the other guests.0 -
I think ours was 600+ vat last year but it was obviously a larger purchase price - stamp duty was in the 20s k :eek:I think....0

I have to go to a hospital two hours drive away tomorrow.
I don't trust our car really, and its almost time for its annual service so its more cranky that usual, and its smelling a bit clutchy occasionally again. (Grrrrrr) it also revs really high, always, seems unsolvable......really want to replace but we would have to decide this fortnight really and I cannot see us doing that.......
Anyway back to issue at hand ...
I have three transport options: one....
1. Take our car, DH can drive. Its ours, which while has fear factor has a sort of familiar comfort.
Then, have two other car options tomorrow which I think is pretty lucky!
2. Take my mothers car. Its a bit like driving Fred flints ones car, has the tiniest engine imaginable and smells, really, really bad. DH can drive it.
3. Take my fathers car. By far nicest car option, much more economical than ours, and more comfortable than either, but I'd have to do all the driving as DH not on insurance. I drive much, much faster anyway, which means journey is shorter, but I might be wrecked for the weekend. We missed last weekend together, so seems a bit mean to increase risk of sacrificing another, but the long journey in the rough car might do that anyway I guess?
Last post oozes should have read doozer, obviously, sorry!
My order would be 1, 3 then 2, unless the odour has been sorted.
At least with 1, whatever happens DH would be with you. I suppose he'd come with option 3, however just worried that you might be overdoing it with the appt & the driving.
Hope that doesn't sound condescending. Really not mean to be.PasturesNew wrote: »There are lots of pretty things in the world that can turn your head. I am focussing on "absolute need.... at cheapest price".
So many "nice plates", but I already have four plates so don't need any just because they seem to look nice.
Thinking more about the kitchen - no room for the bin .... and recycling's another beast - recycling can go in the shed .... I'll keep a plastic Tesco bag in the kitchen to put everything, then drag that out to the shed once a week to sort out where it's supposed to be.
One good thing about the kitchen is that the sink's one of those "bowl and a half", so you can have a bowl of washing up in the sink - and have the "half" space for straining, draining and rinsing things out.
There are four base cupboards and some smaller ones on the wall .... I don't like wall ones .... there is one stretch of worktop that's just over 1 metre long - so that'll be the prep area. "Ideal Kitchen" in my head was about 1.5x bigger than this one, with a long/continuous 6-8' of uninterrupted worktopIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I'm at a wedding on Saturday. I love going to weddings.
Two people who've decided to commit to spending the rest of their lives together, a bit of afternoon drinking and a dance until going home time :beer:Drive with the windows open or pegs on your noses? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
