    I just bought a house.

PN, you have no idea how much this has brightened up my afternoon. I am delighted for you and hope that the buying process goes swiftly and smoothly for you. There will be plenty of time once you move in to wonder if you could have held out for something better and find that nothing better is appearing on the market ;)

I may have some bits and bobs of stuff I inherited here that may be useful for you. I can bring it to your housewarming :)

I nearly just quit my job.

That's the trouble with houses... you can't be rash any more!
I've heard employers like employees who have mortgages as they know they "own" them.....

I do not. Now, this is typical of me. I was grudgingly giving way to one. Now that I'm told 'no' I kinda really want one. ( I mean, presuming no crystal one of course)

I've got The Albion Bath Co. brochure here for another client. There's one that looks copper on the outside but is whatever it is inside. Don't steel baths do the same, though?

Yes, how can I find/persuade somebody within the next 3 hours to take all the responsibility, planning, contacting and work away from me and just do it all for me ......

Most people get scared close to exchange, I've started early. I guess it's because this wasn't my dream house and because I loaded up RM and said to myself "Find a house on here and buy it" - and a few hours later I was viewing one ... it's all a bit sudden.

As it's just down the road I can do a lot of drivebys .... although I'm worried what I might see if I do that :)

Erm, I'd happily help, but there isn't much to do. Solicitor runs searches, you read them. Make decision if they're okay. Move money, exchange contracts, two hours with a man and a van, done. Frightenly easy with no mortgage to speak of.

It's a very pretty looking house :-) I like it a lot. It would certainly fit someone's criteria of dream house!

Copper conducts heat quite a lot better than steel. I don't know how much difference the enamel makes on a steel bath, but probably quite a lot. Fibreglass will keep the water hotter than any kind of metal bath. The most important thing about keeping the water warm, though, is to limit evaporation by not opening the window or putting a fan on until after you've got out .

Am on phone. Will look at pic and floor plan when have proper size screen.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Couple bought a small/old cottage, it's falling apart.
£134,000 - he thought it was a bargain, rest of houses on the street were £180k.

I like the ones that look like big cauldrons with rings on the outside rather than polite ones IYSWIM.
