Erm, I'd happily help, but there isn't much to do. Solicitor runs searches, you read them. Make decision if they're okay. Move money, exchange contracts, two hours with a man and a van, done. Frightenly easy with no mortgage to speak of.

It's a very pretty looking house :-) I like it a lot. It would certainly fit someone's criteria of dream house!

It's got the potential to be a dream house, yes.... it's not an unusual or particularly ugly house at all.... which is why I just went for it. The location has some issues (I'll list those in the other place), but the area as a whole is known for being well-heeled....

The main gripe is that the back garden is north facing; I could put a conservatory on, but that'd be best put on the side, where more sun can reach it - so then you have the potential for having an odd shaped conservatory (keeping it cheap).... and so the alternative is to bang on a large entrance porch type of conservatory, which can then tend to look "typical council" if you see what I mean. I will see how it turns out in the first year, something will come to me. I don't want to spend money hand over fist for some ideal that'll just look like a kid designed it with a lego set - neither do I want to "build the dream" and burn up all cash....

I'm used to "making do" - and for making do it's got some positives. For sitting in the sun, the kitchen's got a good bay window - I thought I might build a window seat in there, for comfort and storage. Be a good spot to sit and wait for deliveries/visitors in comfort too :)

I posted in the other place, but it says it has been submitted and has to be approved.

Anyway...I said I thought it an attractive house.

PN, you have no idea how much this has brightened up my afternoon. I am delighted for you and hope that the buying process goes swiftly and smoothly for you. There will be plenty of time once you move in to wonder if you could have held out for something better and find that nothing better is appearing on the market ;)

I may have some bits and bobs of stuff I inherited here that may be useful for you. I can bring it to your housewarming :)

I nearly just quit my job.

I'll sort that out. With 15,000 spammers registered I was trying to stop them.... but it's just ended up that nice people can't post. But, as I said, it was only intended for 2 days in the first instance... a quick solution for an immediate problem..... that wasn't intended to live beyond that weekend.

    Yes, what's happened Nikkster? :(
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

DH on his way home, Very pleased indeed. Oozes should be back with doozer girl now I hope ( hmm, maybe not, just though of rush hour traffic). He was especially lovely, and he is a nice guy any way, and kept telling me to sit down. He had to put up with some involuntary but comedy facial pulling from me today and I was very slow when we had to move around the house. We also had a chat about res p and a conversation res p just hadn't followed and doozer gave me a big hug.

I sent one home to you dgirl, :)

Is res p getting worse or about the same?

Have managed to view house pic and floor plan online now. V attractive outside and I see what other posters mean about no wasted space inside. Well done PN. :T

    Opinions.....

I have to go to a hospital two hours drive away tomorrow.

I don't trust our car really, and its almost time for its annual service so its more cranky that usual, and its smelling a bit clutchy occasionally again. (Grrrrrr) it also revs really high, always, seems unsolvable......really want to replace but we would have to decide this fortnight really and I cannot see us doing that.......

Anyway back to issue at hand ...

I have three transport options: one....

    1. Take our car, DH can drive. Its ours, which while has fear factor has a sort of familiar comfort.
Then, have two other car options tomorrow which I think is pretty lucky!

    2. Take my mothers car. Its a bit like driving Fred flints ones car, has the tiniest engine imaginable and smells, really, really bad. DH can drive it.

    3. Take my fathers car. By far nicest car option, much more economical than ours, and more comfortable than either, but I'd have to do all the driving as DH not on insurance. I drive much, much faster anyway, which means journey is shorter, but I might be wrecked for the weekend. We missed last weekend together, so seems a bit mean to increase risk of sacrificing another, but the long journey in the rough car might do that anyway I guess?

Last post oozes should have read doozer, obviously, sorry!

Add DH to insurance for 48 hours on father's car, LIR?
