compared to Tesco, sky bb is fantastic....only annoyance for me has been the extra payment they will take from me(signed up for £12.50 deal).....txt msge from them advised £22.10 coming out this month!.when queried I,m told this is normal practice to pay extra 2nd month.

You pay arrears to connection day with a month's advance.

Seems to have settled at 6496 Mbps down, 796 Mbps up.

I was hoping for better down speed, O2 was around 7k down and 1k up.
O2 up speed was always a better % of down speed than other isps, so Sky not too bad.

Not yet tried tweaking Netgear router, but have noticed that ip address has changed several times.
With O2, only ever saw 3 ip addresses in 3 years, 1st was for the first router, 2nd for their 'N' router, and 3rd for my own Netgear.
When I spoofed the Netgear with the mac of the 'N' router, the ip address reverted.

I'd like another 'sticky' ip address.

When using speedtest.net, like somebody else noticed, I'm still showing as being on the BE network, so are they using O2 gear?
    Move along, nothing to see.

    Speedtest:

    11:40am (o2 box)
    = BE UN (ip 188.......)

12:15pm (Sky HUB) = Sky Broadband (ip 5.65)

Does the modem settings have anything to do with it??

Did wonder if it's as you show.
I didn't want to upset any training period, but can now start trying things.
I'm going to give the Sky router a go, but the Netgear routers are so quick and easy to use, port forwarding etc.

The Sky router can't be any more un-user friendly than the standard O2 Thomson?

edit: forgot to say that I improved my speed initially by using Google DNS, (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) It used to be, for me O2 servers were quickest compared to Google and OpenDNS.

I was with O2 and had received an email that my BB contract is nearing renewal. Called sky and they offered me this deal
    1. Free line rental for landline for one year (i'm currently out of contract with BT)
    2. basic broadband for £5 a month (actually a £12.5 but reduced to £5 a month)

is it a good deal? what deals others are getting?
I got a week to say no, if i decided to do so....
Many thanks to I Luv Cats and Jem16, without your comments i would not have contacted sky..and would have been paying £16 a month to BT for landline and £12.5 a month to sky broadband but would have been both a rolling monthly contract though....

Several bagged deals mentioned on the above threads.

(deals vary between discounted or even free LR or BB, plus bill credits)

My speed has gone up from 3.55 Mbps to 5.63 Mbps, faster uploads to.

EDIT: now getting just over 10 Mbps

I'm migrating to Sky next week.. (taking o2 BB & BT LR across)

Negotiated a deal worth around £200 on what paying now. (+ FREE CD/1571, saving more!)

How are people doing with Sky compared to o2??
Won't stay with Sky for my broadband/phone. I agreed to be absorbed by Sky as a good deal was offered for broadband and phone. However I have received my first bill recently and they have sneaked in without making me aware a monthly penalty for not having Sky TV. Do they charge Sky TV customers a penalty if they don't have broadband and phone?
I think this is disgusting. I am complaining about this. Does anyone agree? This is my first message in a Forum

They have not charged you a penalty. You would have had £2.50 discount for having tv. You have a £5 discount for having the phone line.

Like any business the bigger the bundle the more potential savings.

Does anybody ever get Hub wifi drops?
(Ethernet works ok, wifi still lit and SSID name broadcasting)

I've changed the auto channel select to CH6 and it's been ok since.
