No i haven't had to call Start Resuce out, only called to swap cars to another reg which is free been with them 3 years now , thing that puts me off AutoAid is the pay and claim , if you don't have the funds to pay you are stuckthe terms say pay for parts , and accommodation you claim back, luckily any breakdowns i have had i have been taken home , i don't have the money to pay for tow trucks or call outs , so as i say it suits me

Thanks for all the responses guys.
Deano thanks for yours, you did say you hadnt had to use Start rescue but then say they have taken you home.
Like you I am a little scared of having to pay first but it dos seem that many have used and been refunded quickly0 -

No reason not to at all..however, the concern I attempted to address centred around the possibility of not having sufficient credit left on one's normal credit/debit cards?
The high interest cards are easy enough for anyone to obtain, regardless of financial history.
The idea is to use it solely as a 'breakdown' card.....?No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

if it suits you go with autoaid, but for me i don't like pay and claim0 -

Right, with you now
. Another option would be to consider asking for you main card's credit limit to be increased if you thought this would may ever be the case.
That said, I guess if someone thinks that they might ever not have enough credit (or debit card balance) then Autoaid probably isn't for them.0 -

On the contrary, Autoaid is ideal for someone operating on a limited budget.
In other words, minimum outlay, if nothing actually occurs?
The idea I suggested revolves around the need to leave the sub-prime card alone for all other purposes...simply use it, in addition to the card with the important phone number on it?
[By being sub-prime..ie has an extortionate interest rate...there is a good incentive to leave well alone for all other purposes.]
However, imagine the scenario?
One has just left DFS having blown a big hole in one's credit limit on summat to sit on....10 yards down the road, the car burps, fahrts & dies?
OOppps, currently, not enough credit?
It can, & does happen. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

Think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. Here's where I was coming from. If someone may not manage their finances well enough to be so close to the limits on all cards that they couldn't handle the relatively small cost of a breakdown then the certainty of having no additional unexpected short-term costs would probably be best. Also, while this is obviously a matter of opinion, I would shy away from encouraging someone who may already have issues with credit limts to take out more credit that they may end up being tempted to use.0 -

Been with them for over a year and on the one occasion i broke down, help arrived in 30 mins on a remote part of the A9. They also have a very good iphone app where you can report your breakdown and they automatically know your exact location assuming your smartphone's gps is switched on.
I've been with Startrescue for about 3 years and the price has never gone up,about £41 I think, they're absolutely brilliant I haven't broke down once.Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.
Got a huge Buzz out of it.0
