OK - Just spoke to them on the phone. Apparently it takes up to 48 hours for an onlne application to be approved and the online team don't work over the weekend, so I won't hear until Monday. However, the fact that I applied *before* Monday means that, if approved, I will count as an existing customer and therefore be eligible to apply for a second Plus account up till 15th December.
If you don't want to wait till Monday to find out, apply on the phone (not possible if like me you have already filled in an online form for a first account and have yet to hear) and they will be able to let you know if you are approved and give you an account number straight away.
Think your first sentence is incorrect. My wife has just applied for an account , was immediately accepted , complete with sort code and account number. Logged off , applied again for a second account and again was accepted for the second account , same sort code, different account number. So an online application at the weekend has nothing to do with your issue. In other words , its you. LOL :rotfl:0 -
Thanks for the vote of confidence ceredigion! The people on the phone said they couldn't look into it but were fairly reassuring, knew about the policy change coming into play on Monday as regards the 2 Plus accounts and understood why I was anxious my account should be considered active by Monday.
It's the first time I've applied for an account at my new address and, as I still spend a couple of days a week at my old one, I haven't changed the address on my Lloyds bank accounts, so I was wondering if that would cause a problem, but as a homeowner in full time employment with no mortgage, no debts, a clean credit score and my name on the electoral register etc. I'd have thought I should be eligible. We'll see...0 -
....my name on the electoral register ...
It is your name, DOB and address that is on the electoral register. Same goes for your credit files.
Your address on these databases is likely to still be your old address, so if you used your new address in the application, the checks by the bank won't find you. Which explains why your application couldn't sail through.
They don't / can't check what address you use at other banks, incl. Lloyds.0 -
The last bit of my post was a little light hearted fun , please don't take it to heart.
:j0 -
That's OK :-)
I'm on the electoral register at my new address and my previous address also automatically went into the application as I moved less than 3 years ago, so they could check both and find me no problem, but that could be why it wasn't done automatically straight away and needs someone to approve it when they get back to work on Monday.
The previous occupant never bothered notifying the providers of her numerous credit and store cards of her change of address, though, and I eventually had to contact them and ask them to stop sending the notifications of outstanding bills to the house, but that shouldn't affect my credit rating at the same address.0 -
I have an A5 folder with details of all accounts, rates of interest and what the requirements are to get the interest.
Unfortunately with TSB reducing from 3% to 1.5% and then the Nationwide Flexsaver 5 going down to 1.2% I have just had to empty the 6 TSBs, altered all the standing orders and closed our 2 Flexsavers. Have still to work out where to put regular savers monies that end this month.
Whatever happen to the housekeeping in the biscuit tin:rotfl:
exactly!
and for the record, I have got all my stuff in a folder and I have shown 'him indoors' where it is.... not that he would be any good with internet banking , as he wont do it! he prefers a good old passbook for his savings!0 -
Phew! Account now opened and operating - it just took an extra couple of days for them to do a check on both addresses. Next stage to see if they'll let me open a 2nd as I applied on Friday/Saturday but wasn't confirmed till Wednesday...0

Silly Question time....
I've just opened this account, if I have more than £2000 in the account do I still get interest?
Or can I have as much as I like in there but only earn interest on the £2000?
Hope that makes sense.0 -

You can have more than £2,000 in the account but you will only earn interest on the first £2,000.0 -

And the answer to that was: Yes. Second account approved immediately :T0
