  • BUt.... i know this account is good for the interest, and i do have a couple of CP accounts..
but sometimes i wish, like the previous poster, that we could just stick £4000 in one account and get good interest rather than keep changing accounts or in my case having so many accounts!!

how do people manage when they are simplifying their accounts, i mean reducing their accounts, maybe to get their affairs in order..

yes, i do want the interest on these accounts but blimey Charlie!! so many accounts here there and everywhere!.. what if i suddenly vanished off the face of the earth? who would know where all the dosh is??

Make a list of, at the very least, which institutions you have accounts with. Including account numbers might be beneficial.

I have an A5 folder with details of all accounts, rates of interest and what the requirements are to get the interest.

Unfortunately with TSB reducing from 3% to 1.5% and then the Nationwide Flexsaver 5 going down to 1.2% I have just had to empty the 6 TSBs, altered all the standing orders and closed our 2 Flexsavers. Have still to work out where to put regular savers monies that end this month.

Figured that'd be the case. At the risk of potentially wasting a credit search, I just applied and got accepted for the 2nd sole account :D

I applied for my first TSB Plus account last Thursday night (9th October). In light of the information above with regards to the T&Cs changing, I just applied and was accepted for my second TSB Plus account a moment ago.

I think they know that a number of people were intending to apply for multiple TSB Plus accounts, once the Enhance account rates fell in November. Glad I made it in before the change.
  • How quickly do you hear if you've been approved when applying online? I completed the application yesterday night and got an email telling me that my application was being processed and not to try opening another account until I've heard...

I received immediate notification on the last screen of the application page. I had to choose a branch to associate my debit card with and then my new account number and sort code were displayed.

I am an existing customer but I applied while NOT logged on.

I have two of these and my partner one. Together we also have two joint accounts. I've tried to open up another account for my partner online. It didn't work as it says she is ineligible and needs to go into a branch or phone. I wonder if they are going to make it more difficult for existing account holders by saying all other accounts need to be opened in branch.

I got as far as choosing a branch, which I assumed meant I'd been accepted, but wasn't given an account number and sort code...
Perhaps I'll give them a ring and find out

OK - Just spoke to them on the phone. Apparently it takes up to 48 hours for an onlne application to be approved and the online team don't work over the weekend, so I won't hear until Monday. However, the fact that I applied *before* Monday means that, if approved, I will count as an existing customer and therefore be eligible to apply for a second Plus account up till 15th December.
If you don't want to wait till Monday to find out, apply on the phone (not possible if like me you have already filled in an online form for a first account and have yet to hear) and they will be able to let you know if you are approved and give you an account number straight away.

15th December? That's a new date, different to the ones mentioned in the MSE article.

Though it shouldn't really matter - who would, under the given circumstances, delay their applications for additional accounts for more than a few days?
