lol not talking about selling there was saying its pointless talking to ebay reps full stop
OOps sorry, I'm struggling so hard with these new rules that I failed to spot the obvious referenceI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. At the moment there is no start date for when or if this becomes compulsory and I think when there is then the shouting will start. If the thread is to be believed and ebay favour the huge outlets then I can't see managed returns becoming compulsory as those outlets will lose out as they currently have low cost options in place.
However It will be interesting to see if ebay are going down a route where business and private sellers have completely different sets of rules, as that WILL annoy me.
THIS IS HAPPENING! There is an ebay employee on tamebay fielding questions about it (amongst other things). They have confirmed that it is happening and will be compulsary for peeps currently opted in to managed returns and will be rolled out for ALL business sellers with just 2 months notice of when it affects you!0 -
I have started with my policy of adding a headline paragraph to my despatch emails inviting people to buy direct from me for a discount, so far I have had two people contact me with requests. As a small seller (and with appalling sales in th emiddle of this week- I thought I had been completely turned off) two contacts is statistically good.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I can only worry about one thing at once so will wait for my 2 month notice. I get very few returns , virtually none at all so perhaps the impact on me will be slight. As my bread and butter goods don't realistically have another selling venue I have to stick with ebay or give up entirely. Perhaps if my profit margins ever decrease to a point where i get fed up with selling then I might just walk away entirely.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. our sales have been consistent for last 6 months. Jan/feb are normally our worst months. These changes will not effect us much other than forced returns. We will just up the the price of everything to compensate. I would think it will only be a couple of hundred pound over the year MAX.0

I think so. I have no problem if Ebay wish to make it an 'opt in' process, but making it compulsary is a huge invasion into existing business practices.
I honestly do not believe that even when this is compulsary, the Argos / Tesco outlet sellers will be forced into this, as they already have very efficient services, and have preferred couriers.
You also have items that are simply too big to post, for example furniture, hand made wood items etc, that need a dedicated courier such a Nightfrieght.
For me personally, all my items ship with an invoice including an address label so if I get any returns, my buyers just use my label and post it back. It can't get any easier or simpler, and Ebay attempts to micro-manage me would be unwelcome. For some items, they can be returned for the cost of a 2nd class large letter. If Ebay want to roll out managed returns, and use a tracked service, the return cost will be about 4x greater, and no doubt a buyer would choose 'not as described' to get a free return...
I'm sure all the recent changes are the most invasive set of changes they ever made since compulsory Paypal?0 -
Out of interest I have just popped across to ebid to see if they are picking up any business on the back of this as they would be a natural selling site for me being international. I've looked at 3 of the categories I sell in, checked completed listings and there isn't a single sale showing. Interestingly though, and only working from memory one of the categories now only shows less than a dozen listings where before I am sure there were 100s, so I suppose if the competition is less I might pop something back on there and see if there are any buyers yet.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
