I wonder if the negative threads have actually caused ebay to take notice on this occasion as they are sending out reminders of this that are looking as though they are trying to be reassuring. Lots of calming phrases reassuring sellers that this is a good thing (huh) and that each buyer can only 'give' one defect that counts on each dispute.
I've never seen ebay bother trying to calm the waters before now.
I still really object to the word 'defect' though, it is insulting.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Funny how Ebay are no-longer bothered about postage costs - now FVF's are added to postage.
Just proves we were right all along - they just wanted to make more money - and all you clowns who moaned about postage just forced up prices by 10% . Give yourself a clap. :T
As for item not as described - i have never had a low star. But then i tend to mention everything - even ONE bobble on a jumper :rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I am still unsure though if private sellers are staying with the old system, this new 'defect' scheme has only been announced for business sellers.
Could it be that ebay are actually going for a two tier system, with different ratings for both, or is it just that they intend to give private sellers less notice?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Do the new standards apply to private sellers? The announcement only mentioned fees.
Hi xxxxxxxxxxxxx
Yes, they do, we will communicate to Private Sellers in due course.
Thanks,

Looking at the Ebay discussion boards, think they have gone too far this time. Lots of sellers are looking for other selling platforms, and whilst there isn't much out there at the moment, five months could see someone jump in and offer an alternative.
I know Ebay take the view that the buyers are key, but if enough sellers leave, the buyers will have no choice but to follow.

Everytime Ebay/Amazon/Instgram/Facebook/Any Other Popular website announces they are going to change something everyone says they will jump ship and never use them again. Yet these websites somehow struggle on.
The truth is that unless you have millions of pounds to spend on marketing to promote your website, that Ebay is one of the few avenues you reach millions of customers for a small outlay.0 -

I agree that people complaining is nothing new, but if you look at the seller discussion boards on eBay, the majority of sellers seem to be resigned to either leaving eBay of their own accord, or being banned due to the new ridiculous rules. I have seen unrest before, but never this defeated, resigned attitude. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0
