Got a message from Ebay about changes to seller dashboard. Communication and postage costs it seems will not matter.
1, 2 AND 3 stars now to count against you. Plus if a case is opened, even if you refund straight away, this is still going to count. 5% bad transactions and you are doomed. Bad transactions going to be 3 or less stars and/or a case opened for not as described or not arrived. Looks like you will have to refund and hope they agree to cancel the transactions or forget about getting your fees back.

Just when you get used to the current system they make changes again with more pressure on sellers and even greater power to buyers. Under the new system if you resolve a case successfully it might still count against you as the customer might still not be happy with the 'overall transaction experience'. Great.0

Iv just read the whole list of changes. It is totally ridicululous and designed to out smaçç busininess sellers. Those who seller big are immume and those who sell off old bits n bobs wont be affected anyway.
The defect rate is a killer. I'v had 4 item not recieved cases this year and 2 negs 1 neatrual. That puts me above the maximum 5 defects. Thats in over 800 transaction. I would therefore not qualify for top rated seller. It doesnt mention if it also puts your account below standard, but if it does, that means an indefinite selling ban to.
Alot of sellers are goimg to be banned if thats the case. I cant see many top rated seller surviving either.0 -
I have the email but not read through it.
Have had 4 INR this month to date, all promptly refunded. Will this really count against me?
Email says
New seller standards
Your projected seller level is eBay Top-rated seller0 -
FVF going up in some Home & Garden categories too!0

Minimum of 5 transactions. Maximum of 5% "defects".
Large scale sellers would immediately lose TRS if 5 transactions were marked down.
Sorry misread that. 5% is still not going to be that high if it is 3 stars or less AND lost items.
Agree with post above. Ebay seem to be trying to push out the smaller part-time seller. I have brought some items purely to sell at 99p and only make a few pence on to keep my transaction numbers high.0 -

Having worked out my numbers properly, i will still be over the 5%.
Even though i jump through all ebays hoops.
I will need to get a few 99p lines to bring myself into the 3 month evaluation, thats the only way i could survive.0 -
They're not trying to push out anyone. 5% of what you sell not coming back as not received or not as described should be very possible - that's 1 in 20 transactions not being right.
Granted, there are some loony buyers who are impossible to please, but they do not make up 5% of ebay's user base.
There are so many sellers on ebay now that they do need to keep changing what is regarded as a top seller - someone who dispatches quickly, and properly describes items, good value for money. That's what I look for when buying an item, and ebay are trying to make that more obvious.
If a seller consistently is getting 5% of their orders marked "down" for some reason, I'd argue the issue is with them and not the odd rogue buyer.
I don't agree with everything ebay do, and I'm affected by these changes (but not so much this time as the last update), but it's wrong to say they are pushing out small scale sellers. They are trying to get rid of bad sellers who take up CS time resolving the mess they leave and put buyers off using ebay to buy items.0 -
Yet again, ebay are assuming the buyers understand their ridiculous systems.
I've had buyers open a case to report an item is damaged in the post. No message first, just a case.
I've had buyers give me 1 stars across the board, despite their feedback saying everything was great.
I've had buyers give me non 4/5s as 3 is seen as an normal transaction - high quality CS which people these days expect.
Lets face it, how many buyers choose to leave feedback when everything is as expected. I have a 50% hit rate on FB left. I don't chase for it as chasing annoys me when I'm the buyer. The less +ves left, the higher the percentage is going to be for those lower stars awarded.
Any IT whizzes out there who fancy setting up a website, working how ebay was 5 years agoWho made hogs and dogs and frogs?
