There is a flaw in the fees for ending an auction early. Currently if someone finds out that they have broken the vase they were selling they can end it and that's that. Under the new system if it has a bid of £200 on it there's a £20+ fee. It's easier to let the auction run, send the item or say it was damaged before sending and claim the FVFs back with a cancellation. I'd rather risk a neg than end up with a hefty fee for not selling something..0

I imagine it will encourage shill bidding and then the cancellation afterwards to get fees back.

Minimum of 5 transactions. Maximum of 5% "defects".
Large scale sellers would immediately lose TRS if 5 transactions were marked down.
No they won't. If you're a platinum or diamond seller, then your ebay manger will sort your account out for you.
It's only SME sellers that get hit.0 -

When I was really high volume on Ebay my account manager was useless and uninformed and then disappeared for 6 months, came back for a month and then left, I think I'm still waiting for his replacement, 5 years on. I'm not even sure if they exist any more..0 -

Just yesterday I accidentally relisted an item in a batch of relists, so ended it. That was only £1, if it had been a £200 item with a bid on it I'd have let it run.
I can see the threads on here now "Just been charged £35 for cancelling an auction for my Ipad after my son dropped it in the bath". It seems to be penalising the wrong person.
It's another example of Ebay solving a problem by creating a dozen more, something they've been remarkably good at over the years..0 -
Over on the eBay announcements board, Alan has replied to the queries about sellers on 12 month evaluations being backdated, that these sellers will be protected from restrictions or limits until February 2015
Might be useful to some, it certainly is for me!0 -
Ooh, just noticed that to retain the premium seller discount a seller will need to offer a 90 day return period over Christmas.
That is absolutely unacceptable to me.
Somone could buy an item 1st November then ask to return on on Jan 31st.
It's just so open to abuse.
I'm TSR now, but I think I'd have to shut up shop through November and December as I need certainly that sales are final.0 -

It's only required to get premium listing ie FVF discount. You can forgo the discount and not offer the extended return.0 -

Ah, thanks.
Offering a 90 days returns windows seems like insanity to me, I can't think of many retailers who offer this, despite Ebay trying to claim this is for a more 'retail-like' experience. Do Ebay really want us to compete with M&S and Amazon??!
Just imagine all the returns, when the buyer sees the same item is cheaper in the January sales, someone spills wine on it over Christmas or sees their credit card bill and think 'yikes, I better return some stuff'.0 -

I'm assuming there's a survey at the back of it: "What would make you buy more Christmas presents on Ebay?", etc.0
