I have a full set of threatening begging scamming letters from the UKPC bluffogram chain, you will probably get Zenith collections colourful scrap paper next. Just file them all for a chuckle in the future and smile to yourself that you are costing them money!
  • I would just advise that you ignore the debt recovery letters. UKPC is powerless, they have no legal base. In fact the ticket itself is not a penalty or fine, it's just an invoice - hence why legally they call it a parking CHARGE or NOTICE. They legally are not even allowed to call it a fine and you have no obligation to pay this invoice. You are only required to pay tickets issued by local councils.
Secondly, the debt recovery 'agency' is just UKPC themselves - just another guy in the same office, different desk, sending out debt recovery letters to intimidate you into payment. Hence why UKPC have NEVER taken anybody to court, or actually taken it further - because they can't take you to court for something which is an invoice, and not an actual fine.
How do I know this? Let's just say disgruntled ex employee. Just ignore it - they'll keep sending letters saying they will take it further, never actually take it further and give up eventually. No point phoning them btw, they outsource their calls to a call centre, which doesn't actually have any UKPC employees themselves. The call centre handles calls for multiple businesses, and are under strict terms to never transfer the call back to UKPC HQ (a tiny company composed of about 10 people).
  • I received a letter fronm this Company in June 2013 for parking on yellow chevrons at a shopping complex , I was parked for 4 mins as had no other spaces available and received a £60 fine , I did nothing and 10 months have elapsed and I have had 8 letters from debt recovery agents . The fee increases up to £160 and then they offer a reduced fee again to get you to pay , simple message is this Company cannot enforce their fines , do nothing , do not phone , do no correspond and they will go away but it takes over 6 months and do not be intimidated by the threatening letters

Please start your own thread. (That's the way we work here - one thread per person's issue, to avoid confusion).

Please read the NEWBIES sticky thread before doing so, particularly the section about debt collectors (who are toothless). Also a search of this forum for UKPC will likely answer ANY question you may have.

G'mornin bod. I think matt1509 was just adding some advice and support to the OP.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Note for Newbies. The above advice is wrong for tickets issued by AOS members of the BPA and IPC in England / Wales. "Do Nothing" has not been the recommended course of action for over a year.

I agree he was but the tone of "do nothing" could lead others to believe that is the correct thing to do

But 'ignore' can be a strategy as long as the motorist knows what he or she is doing and understands and weighs the various possibilities and outcomes, and 'intelligence' like this about those PPCs who do ultimately crawl back into their cesspits helps people make those informed decisions.

I agree there are other, faster ways to do this and the default advice is the 'appeal' route just in case anyone thinks that ignoring PE is the way forward. But this sort of information (in sufficient quantity) can help us say you could ignore this PPC but not that PPC. This will eventually help sharpen advice and avoid the current blunderbuss of appeal, appeal, appeal, the process that some people find very difficult (the ones who say 'I need someone to do this for me'!). I do wonder how many drop by the wayside after going to the sticky and find they are unable to cope with the reading, the interpretation and conversion into action.

Morning all, so I return home from work yesterday to a letter from The Small Claims Solicitors, basically stating that if I do not pay UKPC within 14 days of this letter they will issue legal proceedings against me and obtain a county court judgement for sums owed plus costs. In the event that a county court judgment is obtained and payment is not made they will consider all enforcement options including but not limited to: Instructing county court bailiffs/high court enforcement officers to attend my address to remove goods : Applying for an attachment of earnings order.

It also states not to contact Small Claims Solicitors but to contact Debt Recovery Plus.
How likely is any of this to happen? Should I Pay the £160? or just ignore these letters?
    Any advice gratefully received.

These letters are the latest rubbish from UKPC's desperate barrage of lies and have been discussed before on here if you do a search.
