That way, you can't spend it, and will always have something to use on the trolleys.
It's only once in a blue moon I use a trolley that needs to be paid for.“You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.”0 -
As Antonia mentioned, all the Dog Groomers round here operate on a "Cash Only" basis. Not only is it a real hassle having to scrape that £30 together, WHY can't they accept plastic? They all charge decent amounts, so no-one is going to pop in and just try to pay £2. ALL payments are likely to be over £10.
I also think its a competitive thing. There are three near me, once the one started taking cards they the rest did as well.0 -

I've not heard a more first world problem in a while.0 -
I can only assume it is so they can be CREATIVE with their Accounts. With cash payments and infrequent receipts, I presume several transactions a day get "lost" as far as the tax man is concerned.
What other reason can there be please?
Maybe that they wish to avoid the processing fees? Maybe that cash is more convenient than having to wait for Mastercard and Visa's 3-month waiting time to be paid?
Thats two reasons, do you want any more?0 -

Very true.
I use a small business that has now stopped taking cards, after doing so for many years, as they are fed up with the costs and delays in payments.
Cash only now.0 -
I don't know who there using but it shouldn't be taking 3 months to get paid. Its normally 2 working days after settlement for Visa/MC and 2, 3 or 4 days for American Express (Depends on merchant type).0

Still need cash!
Almost everything to do with school.
Scout subs
School & scout fundraising
Bus fares for menfolk
Car parking (multi location, sometimes machines take cards, much more often refuse even the new 5 pence piece)
Milk for office
Inflating car tyres (grumble grumble)
Admission & buying things at museum shops - not all free/wired!
car boot sales
most charity shop purchases
the occasional takeaway
newspapers with Lego promotions
and the odd sundry that bubbles up when it is most inconvenient...0 -

You're very lucky at £30. A woman in a van comes to groom a dog belonging to a neighbour, and I understand she charges £70. I've no idea how they pay though.0 -

After a quick brainstorm, the only things I could think of that I still pay for with cash are:
Sadly from Summer you won't have this option in London at all0 -
I use cash in the 99p/£land/£world and any shop that has a too high minimum spend to be of use.
I'm not a fan of the move towards a cashless society- i.e the phasing out of cash fares on London buses0
