Just had to reply to this thread. I have been visiting the Mortgage section of MSE but noticed this thread.
At the age of 18 I was convicted in the High Court of causing death by dangerous driving. First car, age 17, dangerous overtake and the death of a motorist travelling in the opposite direction and life changing injuries to their partner. Moment of reckless madness I think of every minute of every day.
I pled guilty and received 54 months and a 10 year driving ban.
I was in my final year of high school at the time of the crash and had received an unconditional offer for uni.
I too had a long journey back to the workplace, at least to the sort of employment that I wanted to commit my working life too.
I am now in full time employment in a job I love and about to be a dad in July. I am happy to share any ideas, answer any questions and the like. Please just ask as I think I can help you.
Do you still keep in contact with that survivor who suffers permanent injuries? Just wondering if you had to pay compensation or go out your way to make amends to this person. Or is it one of those you've moved on and that person lives on maimed/crippled without any help? In my opinion, when someone in a car crash incident walks out of prison, the best form of character reference anyone can give is from the car crash survivor.
And congrats on becoming a father.0 -

I dont really know the best way to put this but i failed to get the job. The reason being was because i didn't engage myself enough with the team or go to a team building exercise. The only reason i never attended the team building exercise was because i couldn't afford to go and was too ashamed to admit my financial difficulties. I feel so dejected right now because i really did try my best and i'm sorry for letting you all downActions have reactions,
dont be quick to judge. You may not know the hardships people dont speak of

Awwww Scuffer, you haven't let anyone down. Sooo sorry, but I remain convinced there is something wonderful out there for you. I hope you get the chance of an exit interview, where you can explain about your financial difficulties.
Lots of hugs and very best wishes.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Ganbatte, fall down 7 times get up 8 (it makes sense when you see the Japanese numbers and what they stand for).

What kind of team building exercise was it? Usually it's something done in the workplace or at the pub where you don't even need to spend money. There's also the option of asking family members for a loan, or discussing this issue with your manager, perhaps so an alternative team building exercise where you can be included could be arranged. You chose to sit there quietly doing nothing about it. Oh well, time to job hunt again.0 -
