scuffer - you'll be hurting right now. If you're scab-picking, trying to pinpoint moments when you might have Done This or Said That...you just have to let it go. You probably had to take a big breath or two before coming to tell us, for which I say Thankyou -and Well Done. We've come to know and value that you are straight with us.
But you know we all care and you've learnt a lot, That exit interview is one you must ask for, as jobbingmusician points to.
Rebuilding social skills after a long period where keeping a low profile was key to anonymity and survival - your cloak of invisibility - will take some time. You will come to take and believe in trust for trust's sake, in natural simplicity, not as an exception, or something to suspect. It will come and you are on your way.
This has been a good start. You now know how this employer sees things. You'll bear it in mind with another - if it seems appropriate. It's never going to be One Size Fits All.
Might you retain contact with any of the other employees? Anything like a friendship with legs?
I hope family contact continues to ease. Don't push it. Are things still good with Auntie?
Scuffer - you have not let us down. We don't want to see that again, thankyou:D Douglas, jm, keyser, ta and others have all the right words and mfc1886 has come through worse still, lives it, but lives with it. You're still on course scuffer.
Get volunteering before you lose the good habits of time-keeping and personal input.
Your new bike is still a bonus.

I dont really know the best way to put this but i failed to get the job. The reason being was because i didn't engage myself enough with the team or go to a team building exercise. The only reason i never attended the team building exercise was because i couldn't afford to go and was too ashamed to admit my financial difficulties. I feel so dejected right now because i really did try my best and i'm sorry for letting you all down
I am sorry to hear you didn't get it. But don't be ashamed to admit to a lack of finances, it is an obvious state to be in after being unemployed and anyone who thought about it could conclude you don't have much money without asking you.
So, are Debenhams advertising anything promising? But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I've been following this thread from the beginning, and I'm absolutely beyond gutted to hear the update scuffer. Don't feel that you've let anybody down though - you haven't. Instead of feeling sorry for yourself, you've fought and persevered and tried your best to get somewhere following very difficult circumstances. Never mind a let down, I would call you somewhat of an inspiration. Keep fighting, and you will make it. Good luck for the future.0

Don't ever forget to be true to yourself. This is what got your that opportunity in the first place. Take it as experience and always be honest, you have nothing, absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Head up, keep going, you will get there.0

i'm sorry for letting you all down
You've not let anyone down sunshine, you've been failed and you will go on to find better, them who have nowt better to do then judge you by the size of your wallet or shut out when you can't make social events just aren't worth it in my opinion
Had a friend once in this 'boat' for not least the social aspect, tell you what when she saw the job re-advertised not once but twice since she left, ha she had a grin alright!

Hi Scuffer. Welcome back to your thread. I hope you notice that you had been missed. It is important that you keep your perspective.
I and others are truly sorry that the trial did not work out. It would have been a glorious celebration if you had been that lucky first time round. Unfortunalely, life doesn't play fair, but if you are religious, I believe the saying is 'god doesn't give us more than we can handle'.
Yes, you have been knocked back, but you are strong enough and determined enough to succeed.
What have you learnt from this experience?
Don't take unpaid work unless you have a pot of savings behind you to carry you through.
Always attend training and team building sessions.
Never put all your eggs in one basket.
Tell the truth however embarrassed you may feel. After all, you wouldn't be telling everyone, only the relevant parties.
Make sure you use your support networks. This site and this thread are part of that network. Had you told us your predicament, we may have come up with some inventive way to help.
So, everyone is allowed a pity party for one. Make the most of it, but get ready to get back up and start again. You have done it once, you can do it again. Remember, everything gets easier with practice.
Keep the faith !Still striving to be mortgage free before I get to a point I can't enjoy it.

Sorry to hear the latest Scuffer. It is just a set back and at least you have recent work experience for the CV now. The company I work for has this ridiculous idea that team building has to be done in our own time and at our expense so I understand how you may have felt unable to go. I think you should have said something but that is difficult when you are trying to fit in etc. Please don't get dejected as there will be something else out there for you soon."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
