Has anyone had any dealings with either of these companies that can advise me as to what I should do? I have tried looking in the FAQ's but can't seem to find anything.

Surely you were joking. Or hadn't bothered to read it properly yet.

In the FAQs 'NEWBIES read this first' thread which told you NOT to ignore this PCN in the first place, I even post a line yawning about all the Peel Centre threads and begging for no more. They are so common that you could have looked here on any day and seen at least one pointless new thread about that place from someone with a PCN where they haven't bothered to read what to do.

I also suspect you haven't yet learnt how to search the forum - and that too is explained in the NEWBIEs thread. You could have read all about the Peel Centre and Roxburghe dozens of times over by now as they are literally discussed to death. PLEASE SEARCH THE FORUM: 'PEEL' OR 'EXCEL' OR ROXBURGHE' WOULD BE SIMPLE KEYWORDS I WOULD CHOOSE...

Excel PCNs are 'pretty much' POFA2012 compliant usually, BTW (in terms of wording and timing) so don't go off on a tangent looking for something that's not there. So much better if you simply search the forum and read all the ZILLIONS of other Excel threads and be ready to respond if Excel end you a Letter before Court Claim. Just like at least THREE other threads on page one right now...here's one exactly like yours:

I have no idea why four of you on here right now would ALL have not understood what to do - two of them I read about today on here, appealed but then wasted their POPLA codes - and in your case and the linked one above, it seems you both just read old 'ignore it' threads from 2012. WHY?! Sooo disappointing when the info was here for you all along and we haven't advised ignoring these for well over a year.

Excel might follow up with small claims on these cases - but they are defendable IF you are prepared to put in better research than already shown...we can help but like many here, I won't assist with a defence unless I know the poster has actually researched the issues and small claims defences properly. And the NEWBIES thread has a section about that too, if you need it later on.

You will have to forgive me, I didn't look on here in the first instance when I chose to ignore the notice, it was from advice elsewhere that i did that, but then once I got the letter from Roxburghe I thought of looking here, and i'm not in the habit of getting tickets from anyone so didn't really know where to start in the forum and i DO WISH i had come here earlier but you live and learn, I feel I am simply going to have to fork out and put it down to experience.

NO. NO-ONE has told you to pay - are you still avoiding reading the advice? Most cases never go near a court and even if one does it's defendable and EVEN if a person loses they would pay about £150. BIG DEAL. No CCJ, nothing important, the World doesn't end. You'd probably pay less than stupid Roxburghe are shouting for and with our defence help you'd have a chance of winning in court anyway!!

Why for the love of God would you fork out that sort of figure NOW??!!!!!!!!

Now I have received a letter from a debt collection agency called 'ROXBURGHE. demanding I pay £160 within 2 weeks but doesn't say what will happen if I don't.

Jeez - everyone gets those sorts of letters!!! NO-ONE PAYS!!! Eeeek what on earth are you thinking of - please, please, please, read the advice already here for people at debt collector stage.

THIS IS NO BIG DEAL - YOU DO NOT FOLD AND PAY POXY ROXBURGHE WHO ARE SO NOTORIOUS THAT THEY HAVE JUST LOST THEIR CCA LICENCE!

Ok sorry, I'm going to send a copy of the letter formulated on the link on pepipoo requesting POPLA code. I take it that letters should all go by post, and email letters aren't sufficient?

Well I think Excel let you appeal by email but you do realise they will say no (but the whole point is to be seen to enter into comms with them, albeit too late).

I would also delete the admission in post #1 about who was driving and what happened.

So essentially I trying to appeal and I understand that they will say no, so chances are I'll be defending in civil court do you think?

    No.
They turn you down but send a POPLA code to you.
You appeal to POPLA with our help.
    You win.
    No court involved.

Awesome! I have just had to advise a friend of mine to look on here, because he is in the exact same predicament as I am only he has only just received his second letter asking for £100 so still has time to appeal in the correct manner. Really appreciate everyones help. You are a godsend!

Apologies for this I hate to pester, but would it be better for me to send the letter drafted by Coupon-mad in the FAQ's which is written for the first stage of appeal anyway, or is the one from pepipoo better?
