Tropicana fruit juice was priced at £1.50 or 2 for £4 in my local ASDA store the other day. Not a bargain! Now advertised online as £2.48 each or 2 for £4. What a great offer!

I know what it says online but this wasn't the case when I turned up at my local store to buy some, as I already stated.

I know, that's why I said "Or maybe it was an online only offer, or it was not available in your store."

The way that I'm reading "geordie joe" views are that you believe it's fine that a company can advertise a product at any price they fancy (sometimes just to get people through the door) or offer something to customers at a certain price and its "ok" if they decide to change their mind or if fancy not explaining the terms and conditions fully or if they fancy giving 2 different people, 2 different prices...yeah thats fine too - and nothing is final until that money is in the till. Personally my view is that big corporations which make millions every year should be looking after the customer (espicially in these times) and not trying to pull a fast one. Clear prices with clear terms. Thats not hard surely.

    (I'm a geordie too, BTW) :-)

Well, here's the reply. Even though I used Chrome browser and never deleted my internet history nor the cache it's actually MY fault two prices were shown for numerous goods. I opened up a new "tab" when I realised there was an error which obviously doesn't delete history or cache. I'm not buying it and believe the error is still with Asda. Morrisons Aldi & Lidl....here I come. (They've lost a £450 per month customer).

    Hi **********

Thanks for contacting me back and providing me with the screenshots of the pricing issue that occurred on our website.

I’m sorry the pricing of items and promotions were different across the 2 Home Shopping accounts you have.

Our Home Shopping Operations team have now reviewed this issue, after investigating they have found that this error has been caused by your computer browsing history. The cache and cookies store on your computer have stored prices from your old account which is why it was showing differently across the 2 accounts. The browsing history and cache on your computer can be cleared/deleted through the internet options tab on your browser tool bar. This method may vary between different browsers.

I can assure you our prices stay the same across our website, so you can be sure the prices displayed are the same across the board. I hope this has cleared any confusion that you may have had with the pricing.

Thanks again for contacting me and bringing this to my attention. If there is anything else I can help you with please get back in touch.

    Kind regards

  • Well that would only work if you had picked all things you had bought before.

Having said that though, I recently had a problem with a similar thing with Tesco direct. I was putting an order through and had two tabs open because I had been browsing and somehow ended up with two lots open. After I sorted out the order I closed the tab and realised that another order was trying to go through for mattresses for £700 odd pounds. I shut it down quick and got in touch to check it hadn't gone through. They thought that my computer had loaded an odd page from my cache and as I had previously looked at mattresses it does seem a feasible explanation. I am now more careful when I am shopping and have cleared my cache. It had got right through to the verified by visa stage too.

No, you have it in your head that you were shown two different prices and can't see that you were offered two different offers.

On the first account you were shown offers on products such as £1.85 each or 2 for £3.

But on the second account you had £10 off your total bill, which meant you can't have the offers you got on the first account. So you were not shown those offers.

There must have been a time when you understood this, because on the photobucket page all the captions for your screenshots are about offers, not prices. i.e. you post a picture of a product with the caption "Offer" then post a picture of the same product with the caption "No Offer".

So when you posted those screenshots you must have been thinking you got offers on one account and not the other. The reason for this happening is because you got the offer of £10 off your total bill on the other account.

The system wouldn't let you have both offers at the same time!
  • I have also got it in my head that it did NOT stipulate on the email via the terms and conditions that I was UNABLE to use two 'offers' at the same time. If this was not possible it SHOULD have informed such a thick person like myself. Like Ive stated ....you cant assume something which isnt written in black and white!!!! I.m not a bloody mind reader. Ive got no idea how someone can justify what Asda have done.....unless they too work for Asda.
  • I just don't understand this. What happens if the £10 off is less than if you take up the offers without the money off to begin with. Have you got a choice?

So when is £10 off not actually £10 off? Should it be " you have £10 off but you can't get the offers that you would have had so actually it's 50p off."

  • When Tesco give me money off vouchers to use online, I do all the purchases, with all the offers, they total it and then you add your money off. The complete sum of the voucher comes off the total.

The same is true with ASDA eVouchers obtained via the ASDA price guarantee.

The only exception that I have noticed is delivery charges. If you have a delivery pass which requires a minimum purchase of £40 for delivery at no additional charge and you are ordering goods worth £41 then applying a £2 eVoucher means that the order is counted as £39 and you would be charged for delivery.
