How long does it take you to clean your house?

I've just bought myself a G-Tech AirRam, and the advert promises 40 minutes of cleaning time, or 'enough to clean your house twice'. That got me thinking about how long it actually takes me.
So, today I happened to have an afternoon to myself. I'd planned on cleaning the ground floor anyway, so thought I would do the house from top to bottom and see how long it takes. I normally spread it out over the week.
We live in a 4-storey house - people might know from my other posts that we're in the process of renovating it. I don't clean the bits that aren't decorated yet. That would be madness.
It's taken my one and a half hours. This is what I've done - very much a 'quick flick', not a deep clean. From the top -
Office - dusted the obvious bits, cleaned round the sink, hoovered the carpet, emptied the bins, and took the paper downstairs for recycling.
Main bedroom - dusted the obvious bits (including behind radiators, and moving ornaments etc), hoovered. Bed was already made.
Bathroom - quick wipe round and Domestos down the loo.
Living room - tidied up, dusted the obvious bits (including behind radiators and moving ornaments), hoovered.
Dining room - dusted, hoovered, put the tablecloth in the wash.
Kitchen - hoovered. I clean the worktops/sink every morning, so they didn't need to be part of this.
Cellar - swept floor (not with the AirRam!!)
I used one and a half bars out of 4 on the AirRam, and although the dust compartment looks full it would probably do another clean before I need to empty it. If 4 bars = 40 minutes, then 1.5 bars = 15 minutes. I've been keeping house for 33 years, and never worked out how much time I took to hoover before!!
Now, as I said, I don't do the bits that aren't decorated yet - so I've missed out a spare bedroom, another bathroom, the utility room and the hall, stairs, landing, stairs and landing. I also didn't do the guest bedroom as that only gets done if we're expecting a guest!
I'm surprised it only took me one and a half hours. I may do the whole lot once a week rather than bits and bobs every day!! And once the house is completely finished, I might be able to get it all done in two sessions - say basement and ground floor one day, and first floor/second floor another day.

Top to bottom 4 hours. I spread it across the week though and do a bit each day. I prob spend about 2 hours throughout the day cleaning and tidying.
Everyday I Hoover downstairs, wash all floors before bed, clean kitchen sides, wipe down toilet and bleach it. Wipe down table and chairs. I also have the dishwasher on twice a day and do one load of washing everyday.
Twice a week I Hoover upstairs, clean bathroom/ kitchen & change ds bed (he needs his done more often as he's a sweater)
Once a week I dust the whole house, change our bed & dd bed
Once a month I clean the inside windows and wash doors/woodwork
It's exhausting even listing it all.House renovation savings £25,000/£25,000

Last night I loaded the dishwasher and took the new vacuum cleaner out of its box. Then I had a little lie-down. No point in overdoing it.
I can honestly say that I've never cleaned the entire flat in one go, largely because cleaning out the back room would leave me nowhere to put all the stuff I have to hide from the other rooms. I can do a 'guest sweep' of all relevant rooms in about an hour. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Usually spend my Fri morning day off cleaning between about 10am-1pm which involves whole house hoover, washing on, bins emptied and recycling out, light dusting (but not a lot as I think Quentin Crisp was right on that), good wipe down in kitchen and clean bathroom as well as tidy yard. That is pretty much it apart from a mid week hoover and daily washing up and a three weekly ironing session."'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life

I only have a small flat rather than a whole house but it has all the usual mess-makers in it. Even though the place is tiny, I wouldn't want to set aside a big block of time to devote to cleaning.
Ran the vacuum around before work (3 mins) and cleaned the bathroom basin. Do other bits an pieces as the mood strikes, but only if the moon is in the correct phase and I can be arrissed. Cleaned half of all the floors last weekend, may do some more this weekend. You know what they say, if you feel the urge to clean come over you all of a sudden, lie down quickly and it'll soon go away.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

My house gets cleaned more in the ten minutes before visitors arrive than it does the rest of the week0

i have a small 2.5 bed terrace and it takes an hour to clean top to bottom. that's windows, dusting, bathroom, hoovering and mopping. an extra 15 minutes if i strip and remake the beds. i have to hoover and mop downstairs every day as i have a hairy shedding dog and children who dont understand what "food in the kitchen only please" means! and the bathroom gets spray and wipe every night before i go to bed with bleach down loo so the house is never really bad so doesn't take long to clean properly."it's better than a poke in the eye with a pointy stick" - my dad, regularly throughout my childhood when I complained about something being too small/not perfect/not tasty/not what I wanted. he was right every time.0
