Yeay! Welcome back, RT! :) Fab news re holiday property - sounds like a great idea - you've turned a possible issue (DS's autism meaning familiarity is better) into a possible money making opportunity (FHL) - and have a place to go to as a family time and time again - brilliant stuff :D:D

And - also - fab news re the marriage - congrats on your up and coming 10 year wedding anniversary! I hadn't realised they backdated the start date - brilliant! :)

Lovely to see you again - hopefully we'll see you a bit more in 2016 than we did in 2015 :D:D

    Hello there!

I've thought of you from time to time throughout the year - for some reason it's when Yankee Candles are on QVC!

Glad everything's going well, and congratulations on your marriage

Hi RT, great to see you back! Sounds like you have had a very exciting year and how lovely you met up with crumpets. Some great friendships are formed on this forum. I wondered where you had got to so great to see you back.

  • Hi greent :)

You've explained the rationale behind the FHL purchase better than I ever could! :T That's exactly it, it seems like the best of both worlds. I've been researching potential rental income, expenses like management fees, Council Tax exemption etc & it does look like a great return. Even with the fees it could make £3k - £5k per year. We basically decided we'd rather have someone else pay us to stay there than us pay someone else to stay there!

Yes it is funny how Equal Marriage has been backdated. There's an asterisk on our marriage cert to explain the legal anomaly. Apparently that will be a footnote in history, so when genealogists research it in future we'll be famous :DIn fact we were nearly famous this time as The Times wanted to do a feature on us but Mrs RT didn't want to :(

I'll try to get on here more & will get over to your thread ASAP but wanted to say massive congrats on being MF :T:j Does it feel different?!

Thanks for dropping by XSpender, I appreciate it :) Yes I'll try & get on here more this year, having an inquisitive DD round my ankles has curtailed my internet time but there should be a bit more going forward! I hope all's well with you  .

Hi Goldiegirl! Many thanks for dropping by & for the congrats :) Ah I haven't succumbed to any Yankee TSVs in the last year although I *may* have bought the Perfect Formula nail kit a couple of weeks ago <whistles>

I hope retirement is still suiting you well? :T

Hi Cath, thanks for dropping by :) Yes it was fab to meet the fab Crumpet family :) Mrs Crumpets & I have a lovely friendship, I think this board attracts like-minded individuals. We have similar thoughts about money & children & even more similar thoughts about cake ;)

I hope you & yours are well? I glanced at your thread & thought I saw you mention the floods, you may be not far from me, it's been quite a torrid time weather-wise hasn't it? Hope you've stayed dry x
