Is it possible to have a 'private' funeral?

Carol - I wish you all the best in giving your relative the send off he wanted. Those that mattered to him will be there to celebrate his life & mourn his passing.
May I also ask that, those who wish to know more about dementia & how it affects sufferers & carers, please take a look at the forum on the Alzheimers UK website. It will become clear that, although some sufferers may not recognise their visitors, it still helps with their stimulation - it breaks up their routine (especially in a care home) and it helps the carer who feels that someone else cares for the sufferer. If someone feels they can't cope with visiting a sufferer, a card or a phone call to the carer showing they still care goes an awful long way & the sufferer can be told that 'Bill' sends his love. Please don't just be a face at the funeral - ask after them while they are still alive. Just because the sufferer may forget everyone don't let everyone forget them.0
