Agreed.
Just save the number to the contact book and then give it a custom text tone of "none", I've done this on both iPhone and Android in the past.
Just checked the txt and there isn't a number just a https://www.teachers2parents.co.uk address0 -
first world problems ..
I think you are making a big deal out of nothing much ...You could just turn the volume down on your phone ..0 -
I'm not making a big deal about it at all as I have asked for them on previous occasions to remove my number and they haven't,this morning was just the final straw,I just thought someone might know what to do without expecting to get a lecture.0

It does seem strange to be receiving texts from the school at 8am on a Sunday but if it's too early then why is it even on?Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

What phone are you using? I know you can set up a contact for an email address (and then set a custom text tone) on the iPhone (and should be possible on Android).====0 -
So the poster should turn their phone off and be unable to get the messages they want, including important messages, just because a school wants to send out texts?
My neighbours' TV is too loud, should I just block my ears up so I can't hear anything at all because I choose to live here?0 -
i am getting a bit fed up of them now they sent a text at 8.00am this morning which I really don't think is on especially a Sunday morning.
Text is not a time limited service, Just because you received it at 8Am it does not mean it was sent at 8AM. It could have been sent at any time in the preceding three days0 -

Especially the service the OP is complaining of, it's some sort of PC based system schools can sign up to that sends messages to individual groups set up by the school.====0 -

Possibly but thats not my point.
SMS delivery to the end device is NOT time limited, once you send a text it will sit on the network for a set time awaiting delivery.
In most cases the delivery to the end user is relatively quick, but if the users not in a service area, or the system is busy (think new years eve), or sometime for absolutly no good reason, texts can be delayed or if they can't be delivered while still in the validity period may never be delivered.0 -

If the time is early then why would the mobile be on anyway? If it's on then surely that means the person's day has started so a text wouldn't be a problem. If something urgent came up at that time of day I wouldn't be calling a mobile as I'd expect it to be off but call the home-phone.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
