Of course they can take you out of school comms or whatever system they're using. Write to the Head requesting that's what you want. Copy it to the Chair of Governors.

You won't get any more messages that way, and they'll have to send you letters via snail mail, or the bottom the school bag, which isn't a perfect system either, of course.

Wouldn't you rather have the texts for reminders and info though? They included last minute cancellations, closures etc.

You can have your phone turned off if you don't want to be disturbed

No I wouldn't my daughter is in 6th form so the majority of this info isn't relevant and any that is she already has this info,it's not like its for the younger kids. Also why should I turn my phone off there might be an emergency which I am needed to be contacted, and not some ridiculous text which to be fair could have been sent on Friday.

So is one of those teachers who many people think only work from 9-4 five days a week busy with school business that early on a Sunday morning?

Well someone has sent it!At the end of the day I really don't think text messages should be sent at 8.00 am on a Sunday morning, and I know teacher work more than 9-4 because my brother is one ,still doesn't make it right to send a txt at 8.00am,well to be precise 07.58am.

I am a teacher and we often have to do the bulk of our admin and planning work at weekends/evenings as you can't really do it when you are taking care of and educating the children which is our priority. I have already sent and received two important emails both this morning and yesterday morning. Additionally, I am just about to get down to my weekly planning which will take about five hours. I'm not grumbling because it is nice that I have a little extra time over half term and in the Summer break but I can say, hand on heart that I work for it!

Nobody is denying the amount of work teacher do believe me I know what my brother has to do.None of this is relevant to my original ask which was how do I stop these texts Some common sense should be applied here and if texts have to be sent (particularly at a weekend) please send them at a reasonable hour ie during the day.

I don't get how this has turned into a "respect teachers and just deal with it" thread.

Post 2 was all that was needed. They should be able to remove you from their mailing list. If they don't then certain phones have the option to block text messages from certain numbers.

    Agreed.

Just save the number to the contact book and then give it a custom text tone of "none", I've done this on both iPhone and Android in the past.

Absolutely, all I did was ask a question, after all it was a mobile phones thread, thanks for those who answered with a practical suggestion,I did ask and they said they couldn't remove it which I found strange. I am going to email the headmaster tomorrow.
