Hiya. Yes my weekend's been ok too. Although, been mostly doing chores - laundry, washing up etc - it's a glamorous life here at Sazzy Towers lol!

    Hope you enjoy dinner,

Just one of those days I think. Feeling really fat and miserable :( Got an email from my uni tutor this morning outlining the plan for my dissertation next year and I have tons of work to do over the holidays now. :( as well as two jobs, so I can afford to go back to uni next year. Argh!

    Hi hun!
I just read further on and saw your reply. No wonder you feel low hun - but we're not going to talk about feeling fat & miserable ok sf? Doesn't help and it makes everything else feel worse.;) You're beautiful - believe it sf!:T
When we're really low hun, we don't get an accurate picture of ourselves anyway. When there's no other way to get rid of the stress, we tend to turn it onto ourselves by putting ourselves down and talking harshly to ourselves.

Receiving an email outlining a year of work for your dissertation is bound to feel over-whelming hun!:o It's scary and feels impossible when you see a year's work all laid out in front of you.
What are you studying hun? I'm trying to think of any charitable bursaries that may help you.

You will get through this year some kind of way angel.;) You're not a quitter and you've been strong enough to get this far.:T :A
The answer will probably lie in good planning as you know angel.;) Don't panic sweetie - you haven't even started it yet so please don't worry already ok?
Hope this helps a little angel.hug.gif

it is a bit scary - I'm worried about doing a dissertation - 12,000 words  so getting that this morning was a bit over whelming! I've just ordered two books off Amazon for it so that's £21 already spent. I'm studying music but I dont think I'd qualify for a bursary - my parents are in the process of divorcing, but they both are in quite well paid jobs, its just that because of this, they dont have a lot of money to spare at the momet. I got my rent payment thingy through yesterday for the year and its over £3k so I'm working to save up for that as well. I get a student loan and half my tuition fees paid through a grant, but that's it :) All part of being a student I think!

    Hi Everyone,

Found this thread today for the first time thought I'd join you all.:D
PHEW! What a long one?!!!! Haven't had time to go through more than 10 pages.....was depressing me how long it was taking me to read it! :rotfl:So just gave up and jumped in here to say hello :wave:and wish everyone well.

Suffered from depression all my life!!! Hard work isn't it?
Think my Mum was bipolar but not sure, wasn't let in on the big family 'secret' as a child (had my suspicions reflecting back on my nightmare teenage years at home) and have since been made transparently aware as an adult via a very sinister route?! (Won't bore you with it) very hurtful and damaging though.
Seem to have an invisible tatoo above my head all my life - which reads "All abusers apply here!" or is that too self indulgent and self-pitying to say in public?;) don't care, 'cos it sure as hell feels true!!!
Wish I could break out of the cycle of darkness but comfort myself with the knowledge that if I wasn't such a caring and sensitive soul, then I wouldn't be me, and I'm proud of who I am, regardless of what others opinions are about me, that's their business not mine, I know, but it really does affect me emotionally when their callous, selfish egos impinge on my world:mad:

Less of the ranting!!! MOVING ON QUICKLY.......

Has anyone read Patrick Holfords 'Optimum Nutrition for the Mind" I found it very useful for changing my diet which helps me cope better. I got it out of my local library.
Also have started to read John Bradford's 'Homecoming' - connecting with your inner child. Billy Connolly endorses this book, and if you've read Pamela Stephenson's autobiography of his life, you'll know just how bad his past was?!! I've heard from friends and associates that many counsellors recommend it to people who suffer with depression. Although I notice, several of the exercises you need to go through warn they are not suitable for those who are seriously clinically depressed, so just remain aware if you do decide to explore this book!

BTW - Just wanted to ask - Where do some of you get such lovely smillie icons from? Impressed with all the hugs and special Birthday greetings ones here.
I only use the standard ones supplied on this site 'cos I don't have a clue where to find or how to use others?!!

Hi Tao:hello: Welcome to the thread,it is a bit quiet tonight but i am sure others will be along to welcome you tomorrow. In my opinion mental health problems can run in famillies. My mum had what they now call social phobia and took medication most of her life. She also had a breakdown when i was about two and my grandma had to move in for a while to look after myself and my brothers. How this effected me i don't really know but i have suffered with depression on and off for years.I was interested to read about the Patrick holfield book, what sort of diet does he recomend?I have changed mine quite a bit in the last few years and eat a lot healthier, fruit and vedge, fish for the omega 3 and i must admit i feel a lot better for it.
  • you are all probably aware that i am a alcoholic but i am also a big fan of a group called barclay james harvest
