Hello-hope you don't mind my joining you. I've been following this thread for some considerable time & it has saved whatever was left of my sanity on multiple occasions.

Officially I have the depression & anxiety diagnosis, but having talked to an ME sufferer I'm wondering if that might be a better definition for my symptoms.

I'm curious to see if others feel the two 'ailments' are the same illness, totally seperate from each other or so similar it is difficult to tell them apart. Meanwhile I'm going to do some digging re:ME & hope I don't confuse myself.

    Peaceful Minds folks, BMF:shhh:

Hi Big momma, welcome to the thread.I do not think the two "ailments" are the same thing but both may give similar symptoms. If your doctor has diagnosed you with depression then he/she must think that is what you are suffering from and i would advise you to take any medication advised. It is not a good idea to self diagnose. If you think you may be suffering with ME it is best to discuss it with a qualified doctor.

*sandymogs*, :hello: I hope you are well. Are you enjoying creating your Myspace homepage? Do we get to see it? Look after yourself xxx

*zippy*, Sorry to hear that things aren't so good atm. Want to talk about it? If there is anything any of us can do to help, just shout :)

Tulip, I was like oh noooo :( when you said you wouldn't be around for a while because of PC problems but I'm so glad that it has been fixed. You must be really pleased :) Do you know what was wrong with it?

How are you feeling? Have you had a good weekend?

slowlyfading, Welcome back! How was your holiday? I hope you had a great time :)

BigMummaF, Welcome to MSE and the depression thread. I hope you find it to be of help. Everyone is so friendy, so you're sure to get lots of good advice and support.

I think ME/CFS and depression are quite different illnesses. Searching on the internet isn't necessarily a good idea. If you are worried I would speak to your GP. He/she will be able to answer any questions you may have.

ilovegreatdanes, Hello! How are you? How's things going? Have you had a good weekend?

    Hi guys!:hello:

    lion_grimace_2.jpg

They never stood a chance! :D

Don't tell me my mum can't have this, can't have that...mutter...mutter...
They don't know who they're messing with! :D

Right, now - where were we? ;)

Thank you all for your kind support - it meant a lot to me over the last few days.:T :A

Mum is still very poorly but she hasn't gotten much worse thank God. I couldn't get her admitted Wednesday (she's a stubborn lady - can't think who she reminds me of...confused.gif:rolleyes:).
However, I did manage to get her extra nursing care at home, and an electric backrest for her bed, her flat clean,
food in that she would be able to eat, her appt with her lung and heart consultant brought forward, respiratory nurses, an increase in her Social Services package and a form to apply to increase her DLA.

I was disgusted with her care package - they'd only given her someone for 30 minutes in the morning at about 11am (Mum wakes up around 5a.m.!), to dress, wash up, give her toast, cereal & a cup of tea and make her a sandwich for later. Being so ill, she couldn't even get up to get a drink most of the time. She was even sleeping in her recliner. After a Tiff talk, I'm pleased to say this is being increased.;)

She is still very poorly and it is a downhill fight sadly. :o The tablets aren't working and you know they're taking it seriously (at last!), when you then get 2 - 3 visits from the respiratory nurses this week.

I think it helped her to have someone there fighting for her who knew a bit of what they were talking about. Even though she was so ill, she was on her own so much, was frightened and tearful and tired God bless her. It doesn't matter how ill she is or how old, she should still get the best of care!

My DS has started dance classes at Birmingham Hippodrome and The Custard Factory (don't ask! :D ) last week, and I had the deep joy of paying a taxi fare of £40 when he became stranded at New Street station Friday night, due to them deciding to stop all trains.
I asked him to phone his friends from Stratford college,(couple gone with him to these classes and they live in Brum), only to be told his mobile was flat and so he couldn't get to their numbers. I asked him where he wrote them down to see if I could go into his lair, , and find them.
DS replied that he'd written them into his mobile!doh.giffaint.gif
Now, I love my son, but honest to God, some days I could just...tape2.gif  :D;)

I know there's a million posts to get to and I've tried to drop in when I could, but I have thought about every one of you.hug.gif I hope everyone is safe and sound and that the floods haven't gotten to any of you.grouphug.gif

Okay guys - have muchly to do - pms, posts to write etc. - and catnaps count as work you know! :p;)

Tiffy hugs to all who are struggling, have appointments, counselling, tests, meetings and treatments, to all our new friends and our old ones too (and no miro, I wasn't talking about sazzy's age!:D ;) ).hug.gifhug.gifhug.gif

Good luck to sazzy too for her counselling tonight.:T

    Be kind to yourselves guys.hug.gif
    Much Love,

Morning peeps-hope all is well where you are.

I'll try to be brief coz once I get started I can ramble for England provided it's with me gob & not me feet!

I first went to the doc in my early teens about being so tired all the time, & in those dark & dismal times the 'new' wonder drugs were tranquilizers. My parents would say that "if you feel that bad, go to the doctor" in the same way you would tell an errant partner to Ps off if they felt that way about your cooking.

I did not get a repeat scipt after the first lot, but so began my 'history of depressive episodes'. Each time, I tell the doc I'm so tired & lethargic & every time I get told I'm depressed & this last time I've been on AD for a few years with only the briefest of breaks.

I've also had time with the community psyc team & found one of the best stratagies to help me was a relaxation technique called 'visulisation'. Basically you imagine a place where you would want to be-picture it in your mind, looking at the smallest detail; the smells, sounds, colours, tastes, emotion of the moment. Then you do the journey to get there, with the same attention to detail & finally how do you get back from where you began.

It is supposed to be a good technique for combatting anxiety & panic attacks, a couple of people in the group said it helped them, but I find it most useful when my brain is getting overloaded with everything I must do. I just sit & pretend to be reading a letter if the family are around-the phone bill will do-& in my imagination I go off on my motorbike to a clearing in the forest to watch the sun rise before coming back to my cottage for a hot shower, clean fluffy towel & hot drink. By the end of my journey, I am able to face life once more in my terraced house in a town, driving around in a 12 year old banger.

Some people pick up a tin of soup or something if they are in a shop & pretend to read the ingredients, just to give them some breathing space.

I guess it's a form of meditation. Where you go, what you do & how you get there are all up to you.....submarine & scuba diving with angel fish on the coral reefs, camel train across the Gobi to a beautiful oasis, galloping along the water's edge & up to the old lighthouse-whatever you want, you can achieve in your own mind.

HTH some of you. Peaceful Minds.....BMF.x
